Read that Van Basten has called up Boulahrouz to replace him, which I find pretty odd. He is a defender as far as I know, so not exactly the natural replacement IMO...

Pre-season is meant to start beginning of July. He won't be ready for it so I'd take an educated guess and say that he'll miss the start of the season.

This is **** news.
Not only is it bad for the player to suffer a big blow like that, it's also not great for us as this tourno would have been great Babel in terms of dealing with pressure situations - big games and big expectations, as well as playing against top defedners. ****ty all round. Hopefully he'll be twice as eager to show what he ca do for us to put this disappointment behind him.
Gotta feel for him though.

kuyt's doing well. boy needs a good tournament then we can either sell him or more likely give him a last season to prove himself as a STRIKER.

gutted for babel, the lad could also have done with a full pre-season to get his fitness up instead of playing catch up again. i think the pace and directness of players like babel, ribery etc will be the difference between those who progress or those who sideways pass the ball all the time, playing compact and fade away.

Kuyt put in one of those effervescent performances in the 2nd half today - popping up everywhere, displaying bundles of energy, putting in vital blocks, interceptions and tackles, and some good forward play.

Fairly typically he was a bit crap in front of goal and his final ball was poor more often than not, but an excellent performance nevertheless.

Sneijder was outstanding in what was an exhibition against a gash Welsh outfit.

Well he played in midfield - mainly on the right but switched flanks with Robben later in the game.
