    Heres hoping
I doubt he'll be ours "by the end of the month" since he's playing in Euro 2008.

The tournament finishes on 29 June 2008 - so it's possible.

Maybe Dic should "Lend" Hicks the money to buy Villa if they believe they`ll be eventual owners anyway. They can deduct this loan from the eventual buying the Club price.

          Maybe not................

Has rafa told hicks that the only way to repair the damage him and gillett have caused is to go out and buy a superstar player to calm down the natives? That this purchase would make fans see him in a different light?

Has rafa made a deal with hicks ?

                    or even this...

David Villa has not got the aura of Fernando Torres or the marketing deals of Cristiano Ronaldo. He is not protected by a group of assistants like Thierry Henry nor does he appear on the cover of a large number of football games like Ronaldinho. In fact, unlike most of the best recognised players on the planet, he answers the phone when you need to chat to him and talks away as if nothing has changed: as if the conversation is about a game played in the park with his mates. He is about to make the jump into the top tier of clubs which will give him the universal approval he deserves. When he does he will still be a regular guy, but one with a very special talent.

Could this really make us see hicks in a more sypathetic light ?

I don't wanna knock what you have written, but just to be the devil's advocate here, ten days ago Balague had a different opinion about Villa.........

David Villa has made the decision to leave Valencia and the club is willing to negotiate for him.

It’s being reported that Villa has a €150 million buy-out clause in his contract, but the Valencia will be willing to do business with anyone prepared to pay €40 million for the striker. A good display for Spain at the European Championships will certainly help his cause.

David Villa is the kind of footballer that will easily adapt to the high tempo football of Chelsea, the passing game of Barcelona and the blend of counterattacking and possession football favoured by Real Madrid.

Those three clubs have contacted him but Chelsea and Barcelona seem to have taken the interest further at the moment. There is no firm offer on the table so far, but by the end of the summer, he should end up playing for one of those three clubs.

For what it's worth, I would cream myself if he joined, but I also think that LFC/Rafa are playing a game ie Rafa announcing that we have fook all but we we're not bothered etc (i know that we don't have much but every1else thinking this too is an advantage when bargaining surely)

I also think that Balague is a friend of Rafa, and could be instructed not to let the cat out of the bag re targets/transfers.

                    Here's hoping.....
Referee Lubos Michel said: “If my assistant referee had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty, and sent off goalkeeper Petr Cech.”

                        then

It's a substantial bit of info, says last month that we would sign a strikerby the end of last month, didn't happen, then he says, surprise surprise, it will happen, wait for it, wait for it....this month.
This guy is good, basically, what he is suggesting is that LFC, one of the top four clubs in the EPL will sign a striker, sometime over the transfer period I expect, it's genius, real genius. I for 1 think it's dead accurate.
