Are we getting shafted in the Transfer Market?

Is just me or has our sitiuation caused us to let players go for cheap and pay a fortune for new one's.

Come on Risse must worth at least 5m in todays transfer market.

And as for Barry 20m what's going on.
    Players we should be signing:
Lallana, Lovren, Moreno, Vorm, Shaqiri , Memphis Depay and Adele Ali
    Players who should be going
Reina, Brad Jones, Coates, Kelly, Agger, Lucas, Assaidi, Suso, Borini, Aspas

I've no complaints with the Riise fee, given he has been abysmal the last two years and has only a yr left on his deal.

The Barry deal does give the impression we're getting raped though, depending on what the fee is. But we need to start playing hard ball, enough of this coming back with improved bids - we need to give them a take it or leave it ultimatum

Riise had only 1 year left in his contract and we were more than willing to sell so it's buyers market.

Villa don't want to sell and Barry himself haven't (yet atleast) put any pressure to club so they hold the cards for now. We definitely could put 20M to better use than Barry.

is Riise worth more than 5Meuro's? which is around 4M quid these days

        not sure myself.

As for Barry - if it had been any of the top teams they'd be quoting these prices.

We'd been laughing at united paying over the odds for midfielders yet they win the PL.

I don't care if we pay over the odds as long as Rafa now gets his players.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

Anybody think that if we are nuts enough to sign Barry then we must be ****ing minted or have a load more cash than we are letting on? I mean why waste £20m on barry if that is all we have and rafa knows where we need new players

It's not just the transfer fee. Assuming he was on £40K a week - that's £2 million in wages over the next 12 months.

What kind of teams are looking at the likes of Riise, Crouch, Pennant etc.... the likes of Newcaslte, Villa, Pompey.... these teams are looking to get into the top 4 - which is where we are now.... Therefore, when negociations start, the likes of Newcastle can say "well if he's not good enough for LFC, then he won't be good enough for us as we want to get to where you are" - if we want to sign their players, eg. Milner or Barry, the same teams can say stuff like "well he's good enough for the top 4 and we want him for us because we would need to shell out big time to replace him with another top 4 player"....

basically, the only types of players we would get big big money for are the likes of Torres to chelsea, Gerrard to Inter etc - basically players we would never want to sell in the first place.....

i actually think that we should say to the likes of Barry, Milner... look we would have long term interest in you but your clubs are doing the bollix....leave your contracts run down a bit and we will try again in future windows.... if we play hard-ball and keep Xabi, and then Barry starts the season with Villa....well then i reckon that Villa fans won't like him as much...and Villa won't want to keep an unhappy player.... then we could get him for 8 to 10m in January......

We aren't getting shafted. Clubs can demand what they want. If we decide to pay £7m for Pennant, £20m for Barry and £9m for Milner then no one is shafting us...it's us that are the stupid ones

BTW Arshavin looks good. Apparently available for £11m...compare that to £20m for Barry. Scandalous

For all the talk of Alonso being this world class talent, there's not many top clubs interested at what is a competitive price.
I'm sure they would be all interested in Xabi if they were looking for a top class midfielder. He wont join another English team, Barca and Real would both take him but have too many midfielders as it is. Milan have the Italian trio and Seedorf and Flamini and Inter are stacked too. That leaves Juve who are rebuilding. Bayern and Athletico are the only other teams he would possibly join. He is having some game tonight.

Barca have Xavi,Iniesta,Yaya,Keita and Real have Guti,Gago,Diarra,De La Red(to return) and Baptista. He is highly rated
