It's the ****ing same every season.

We overpay for average players and then get butt****ed when we try to move them on.

The longer we continue the buy ****e, the longer this will continue.

As for Barry, I'd **** it off and keep Xabi. Tonight showed that he is still the pass master.

Xabi can run a game, but he can't battle in a game.

No one is saying Barry is a better player than Alonso. Only that Barry is more suited to the prem and we will improve as a team with Barry.
          Forwards.......

JAR would have cost around £9m or £10m if he didn't have one year left on his contract. Proven international with over 300 appearances and experience in CL ... + he's only 27.

with barry for me its simple

he is a 10 mill player we have bid up to 15 mill for

if they wont take that **** em he has said he wants to join us - this weakens their hand
he is due a weigh in off villa (testimonial cancelled) maybe he is holding out for that. if so **** him.
lets not get carried away here barry is ok he is no superstar

No he wouldn't. He is on comparatively large wages is not a top class player and we would always be looking to sell. He is a good player but best case we would only ever have got 5m-£6m in my opinion.

As for the more general question of are we being shafted - how can anyone possibly tell at this stage? We know practically nothing about the prices and have to rely on newspaper speculation. Added to that the only test of the values of our transfers to us will be in how much (if any) improvement is made to our team/squad next season.

                    Is the right answer.

we know we have had 2/3 bids up to 15mill for barry knocked back
if we pay more we deserve to get shafted

I would pay 4m for someone to take Riise - As for Barry we won't pay 20m.

4M is a decent price for Riise given he only has a year left on his contract and it was highly unlikely we would offer him a new one.
