Ronaldo is proven to score goals and win games in the prem. £75m isn't (anyway, it'll be more like £50m). I know what I'd rather have

Well, if United had to build a team then maybe they would find that an attractive proposition. They have an extremely talented core of players around which they basically used Ronaldo as their keystone player, the man who actually went and won them games (would they have won the league or the CL without him?). Everything emanating from Old Trafford strongly suggests that they don't want to sell - at any cost.

Regardless, I'd personally keep Ronaldo in that scenario hands down.

75 million Euro's was what i believe to be quoted, considering Villa is rated at 30million Euro's and Silva around 20, with 25million Euro's left I would beg to differ.

Speaking in Euro terms really does make you feel dirty !

so your right thats around £58 million

The other thing, i truly believe that Ronaldo would not have the same amount of success this coming season as he had last season, 40 goals is amazing from one player, If he stays at the Mancs i think he'll return to scoring 20 (ish) goals again which is still a good total.

I suppose united would benefit from keeping him considering they only need to improve a couple of positions which they already probably have the funds to.

Yes, there is no way he can repeat a 40 goal season with 30 league goals. Surely!

That's what I'm trying to get at in a really convoluted fashion.

out of interest, how do you think Ronaldo would do in Spain given the change of style ?

Obviously good players can adapt easily but will the price tag add pressure to the 1st season and make him struggle ?

the Madrid fans are demanding !

                Thoughts ?

Remember they also have to pay out £20m or so on Tevez. And I'm not convinced he'd go out and buy 2 more wingers when he's already spent £17m on Nani who was starting to look like Ronaldo's understudy. And Lahm signed a new contract with Bayern last month so I don't think that looks a probable transfer really.

I realise that United will be strengthened by more quality signings but the influence that Ronaldo's departure will have on the team is going to be untold in my opinion.
I didn't know that and its a relief to hear. I hope its worth more on paper than the contract Ronaldo has with united. Also Alves gone to Barca and Bowsinga (who i don't rate at all) gone to Chelsea, the market is running dry on right backs. Step across Manchester Micah Richards? I'd love Nani to be Fergies answer to Ronaldo going, don't rate him that highly at all and I think Fergie still sees him as developing and a bit part player. Giggs will only be a bit part and what other options have they wide, Darren Fletcher. They won't replace 40+ goals, but they probably only need to replace 20 or so and a centre forward will do that for them. Is Tevez not on loan for another season?

When players leave united it never seems to have a catastrophic effect on the team. Hughes, Ince, Beckam, Stam, Van Horsehead, Keane, exception being Schmichel. I hope I'm very wrong and that ronaldo's leaving means them being crap.

Interview with Balague today, Ronaldo said he was going back to united to get an operation. Why would he go back there for the op id he was leaving?? Surely Fergue would get the Doc's to put a spanner in his ankle when he was out cold.

I'll reserve all optimism on our season ahead when the wheeling and dealing of the transfer market is done.

Being the arrogant cock that he is i think he'll be ace, doubt he'll score the volume of goals or have the same amount of impact he's had at the Mancs as Madrid will not be built around his prowess.

But he's a world class player (I begrudgingly admit) and thus he'll come good.

I think it'd take a while to alter his game to fall in line with the generally more tepid pace of La Liga. He's at his best when teams are caught on the backfoot and he is able to counter attack. But a player of his quality is never going to have much of a problem scoring goals in a top side.

As for the pressure, I think he loves it. It just helps swell his already gigantic ego and, as a product, improves his game.

We'll thump him and whichever team he's playing for either in the league or/and in the Champions League we've got El Jefecito who'll take him

I have to disagree! it took untied up until Van Der Sar to find a fairly decent replacement for the ex-hockey GK, where the star jump came from lol

If they get 60M, bank 20M and buy Aguero for 40M I will be pissed off. They can have Villa but we need to get 'Kun'.

Edit: I say they can have Villa knowing he is going to Barca. HeHe!
