    Johnny mate. Last comment before I say "**** it you all win the internet war"

    Why does Torres have to say "we WILL win the Premier League" instead of "we CAN win the premier league" ?

    Surely you can accept there is a difference, one smacks of delusion, the other belief.

      what internet war?
      Some of us love the fact that Torres is cocky enough to suggest that we can win the PL(It` is possible you know).I don`t think it`s delusional.

At home, we should be rampaging against teams and make Anfield a very volatile and difficult stadium to go to. We need to steamroll teams to an extent that our next opponents have already lost the game in their heads. I know thats easier said than done but our early fixtures don't seem to be the most difficult- they can be difficult if we get complacent and achieve 'good enough'.
                  Am I the only one who thinks our chances of winning the league come down to our performances against the other three? I don't see why we're not capable of beating all of them at least once a season, as we manage it in other competitions, and there's not better way to slow your rivals down than by beating them yourself.

                  All the big teams lose a handful of easy games each season, and why we could always improve in our results against teams like Bolton, to me it's the results against the Big Four that will make or break our season.

                    Crouch's imminent departure is going to leave us very thin up front in the unfortunate event of a Torres injury.
                    You are basing your assumption on the fact that we are not going to replace him, which I assume to be incorrect.

                    None of us know what money is available. If, for example, Rafa has £10m available for a striker, but wants a £20m striker, then he can get the striker he desires by selling Crouch.

                    The fact is we don't know, but to say if:
                    1. we sell Crouch;
                    2. we don't buy another striker;
                    3. Torres gets injured;
                    then we will be in ****.

                    is no difference to saying that and saying if:
                    1. scum sell Ronaldo;
                    2. don't buy a replacement;
                    3. Rooney gets injured;
                    then they will be in ****.

                    It's true in both cases, but the chance of that happening in both cases is highly unlikely.

                      In 1991 after finishing 6th in the league Ferguson stated "we WILL win the League"; he was wrong of course, they came a close second.

                      The next season they did win it.

                      I wish all of our players had the same belief as Torres. In Europe we have the belief that no matter who we face, we WILL beat them. It doesn't always happen of course, but it has transformed us from a nothing side to one of the most feared in Europe. If we had that same belief in the league we might just win it.

                        I am sure he really does believe we will win it, he has a winning mentality and believe in the other players round him. He is probably thinking of how great we were at the start and end of last season.
                        I cant see how it will add pressure on Rafa and I am sure Rafa is delighted to hear him being so positive. I am shocked and disgusted how comments like this have been used as a stick to beat him with. Fingers crossed all the team has the same believe, if only it would rub of on some fans.

                        Very well said. Although we have plenty of supporters who seem to think we should still be winning the league. It's somewhere in the middle. We can win it but we would need a lot of luck, moreso than Chelsea and Manu for example. A mid to long term injury to Torres would set us back a lot.

                        We should all believe we can win, but still be very thankfull if we do.

                          He could say either.

                          The fact he was asked by Sky just after winning his first major trophy shows he is in a confident mood and knew what the sensational pricks (Sky) were angling for. I want the player's to think this, perhaps not say it in public but I have no problem with Torres saying this all things considered.

                            The difference in what he said and what you believe he should have said is but one word... WILL or CAN..? A word we all know as fluent English speakers puts a completely different sentence together, with whole different meaning.

                            The lad's not long been speaking English (widely renowned as being the most difficult language to master for these such reasons) and was obviously caught off guard without the chance to compose himself. The fact he even understood and answered the question in English at all is a further sign of his will to succeed in England and with Liverpool.
                            His armband proved he was a RED. Torres, Torres.

                              Maybe he honestly believes that he alone is good enough to help Liverpool win the Premiership, regardless of who we sign. I’m sure plenty of players think the same at the own respective clubs or potential clubs.

                              He scored 33 goals in his first season, just won the European Championships, scoring the decisive goal himself. He probably feels the world is his oyster right now. I don’t think it was a slip of the tongue or a language breakdown, I think he honestly believes we will win the Premiership.
                              If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

                                The thing is that last season we struggled against West Ham, Middlesborough, Pompey away (I know all very difficult places) or Spurs, Wigan and Villa at home. If we had got 13 points from those games, the games against the rest of the top four wouldn't have mattered. Yes, beating the teams around us is a six pointer but if we are consistent at beating teams who are 'inferior' to us, we should be closer to pushing for the title.
