Voronin looked good yesterday and we all know what he's really like, too early to judge Degen, Cavelleri looked equally poor.
    We come not to play.

I still think that Voronin is a better player than he gets credit for (even if I don't think he is really good enough). If it wasn't for how doing so for the Crow back fired I would be tempted to start a Degen fan club.

Degen has looked like an absolutely liability in the admittedly small amount of time we've seen him on the pitch so far.

As far as I'm concerned it should be Agger and Skrtle at the back, with Carra slotting it at right back. I still rate Arbeloa very highly as well.

We spent the thick end of ten million on the lad Dossena, so I'd be surprised if he isn't an instant first choice left back.

especially if we end up buying an attacking right sided midfielder/winger.

Pointless putting Carra out at RB, when we are after an attacking threat there. I'd go with:

              Dossena- Agger/Skrtel-Carra-Arbs
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

The guy has been out injured for a while, has just moved to a new club (and country) and has made two (brief-ish) appearances in preseason games.

                GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE!!

I think those five are our best options.

While they're all decent cover, I can't see Finnan, Hyppia, Aurelio or Degen holding down a regular first team spot.

I think this is the year for Arbeloa to establish himself as our first choice right back.

The problem for him, much like Carra until he became first choice CB, is that he can adapt to many different positions so he never has to the chance to make any one his own. The dreaded utility player.

I believe Rafa spending big on a left back means he views Dossena as a first choice addition to the squad. Degen I feel is cover and nothing more. If he does start any league games it will no doubt be against sides that have no attacking ambition.

Any combination of Carra/Agger/Skertle is as good as anywhere; I would say Skertle + Agger is the closest we have to a Vidic - Ferdinand combination, but Carra is clearly the captain and organiser of the defence missing only a handful of league games since Rafa arrived so I would be very surprised if that trend doesn't continue.

                      Arbeloa - Carra - Agger - Dossena I reckon.

Then again put Carra, Agger & Skertle in a 3-4-3/5-3-2 formation and you only need one holding midfielder.
"The definition of insanity is not running into the same wall again and again; it's expecting a different result every time you do it."

Alot of people seem to be writing off Degan and including Donessa in their team, can I just remind you we haven't seen Donessa in a Liverpool shirt yet. Next week some of you could be having a similar discussion about him

We need to give the lad some time, and let him develop and then see whether he is any good.
I think I'm one of very few people who are still unsure about Skrytel.

By that you mean unsure how to spell his name, right?
