it'd also mean we save the barry money for a potent right sided midfielder. this way the team has greater balance imo
But the point is that his best when in CM is 10 +10, when playing in the 3 he's a 20 + 20 player. It's asking a lot of keane to compete with that.

Could Keane do better than Kuyt at RW? If so then why sacrafice SGs 20 goals and assists? Would be insane unless you believe that Keane is better playing behind Torres than SG.

With all the delicacy of a pidgeon hating cat convention held in Trafalgar Square, can I just say at this point that in my opinion, Steve Gerard is very much overated?

Tempted to put a cracking off emoticon here but ....well.

Just one minor setback....Keane is actually a Spurs player!

Is there a 'DOH!' emoticon for when the buggar moves?

I can't see us changing formations and why we need to. There's no way I would move Gerrard from behind Torres, he was exceptional there last season! Even if Keane comes in I think it's more likely he'll take Babel's place and line up on the left of the 3. I see Babel more as an impact player at least for a couple more seasons. Can't see Rafa leaving Kuyt out either. Those 3 behind Torres would then be capable of inter-changing positions which in theory should cause real problems for the oppo. Is real width overrated?

I agree. Kuyt does a great job for you guys on the right. He has found his niche at the club. Almost by accident.

Keane won't add much more than Kuyt already does to the attacking line. Again, too much like Torres and yet Berbs would be perfect foil for Torres. Little through balls and great vision.

Rafa is really missing a point here.

And I should know because he only has one more european cup than I do.

Gerrard's role is to play where Rafa tells him in the style that fits in with Rafa's tactics for that game.
And to do that without sulking.

babel is not an 11 million pound impact player. keane on the left of the 3 with kuyt on the right, i hope i never see that happen. if we pay 15 odd million for s no7 second striker/playmaker we should play him where he's proven

as for width being over-rated, maybe its been so long since we've had any we've forgotten what it brings

11 m for a good young player with "potential" really isn't that much in the scheme of things. I just don't think he's good enough / ready to be a regular starter at the mo and if there's one position I would strengthen this summer it would be that one.

I personally don't think we need proper wingers, just someone who can create something out of nothing and add that little spark we seem to lack in certain matches.
