on his day he's a cracking player (best player at CL final) but that day isn't often enough, saying that I'd rather he played wide instead of Kuyt

On his day (which isn't anywhere near often enough), he is very useful, not "cracking" tho, not by long stretch. Not really good enough for where we want to be & Kuyt does much better in the equivalent position. Not sure whe should sell him without replacing tho.

People saying he was the best player in the CL final tho are talking absoloute nonsense. Yes, he was eye-cathcing & direct, but his deivery was absolutely woeful that day & given the amount of chances he had to deliver, it showed his standard up to be far from the level we need.

Masher was our MOM that day btw, no coincidence his subbing meant Kaka was finally noticed & that led to the 2nd goal.

The fact that we're apparently only getting offers in the region of £3m for him after paying over double that speaks volumes. We were robbed paying £7m for him and it was a bad deal by Parry and Rafa

Doubt we'll have apid the full £7m TBH- lost of it wouldve been for add-ons & we've won FA since he arrived.

Suffice to say, allowing for the time & space Pennant was given & his lack of delivery, I'd say he was one of the worst on the pitch that day.

Pennant just is not good enough for where we need to be. He gets in some great positions but tends to lose possession and/or deliver a poor end product.

It does say alot that Kuyt is preferred ahead of him. Pennant needs to move to a club like Wigan or Blackburn where his level of performance is more acceptable and his inconsistencies unnoticed amidst players of similar standards.

Pennant is not good enough. He's show flashes of ability and had some good games but he's nowhere near the level we require and doesn't produce on a regular basis despite seeing an awful lot of the ball most of the time he plays.

Pennant will probably be the first player Rafa looses big money on. Noboody will want him for anything near £7M.

He was probably worth the gamble at the time though. This one just didn't come off.

I really cant see that, he's been quality for us thus far, coupled with Kuyts ability to work his bollix off for us and effectively shut up shop on the right hand side .. when he has been given a game hes been effective .. perhaps needs to up the ammount of balls into the box but he is a clever footballer with pace who can beat a player .. not bad for 7 million

Deffo man he's a good player to call upon for the last 20/25 minutes of a match, run at tired defences and he can do that to be fair.
Like the Inter Milan match at Anfield last season(cl qtrs 1st leg), he played a part in our two goals late on.

Would prefer Benayoun to Pennant but i'd still be a little disappoinited if Pennant was sold although a decent fee for him might be too tempting like ye say.
