      Jari Litmannen.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

If Keane was such a fan why did he turn liverpool down when he was 14?

I remember that too mate. I'm sure I read in his first Arsenal interview he was asked "What are your ultimate ambitions in football?" and he replied "To play for Liverpool."

Not sure if it's true like.
"My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. I would die for that Liverpool shirt. I think the club loves me and I feel the same, no matter what the situation." - Pepe Reina, Nov '09.

I can't remember his exact words but I remember reading something somewhere where he said he thought he would struggle to make it through at Liverpool so he went where he thought it would best suit his career at that delicate stage.

                From the official site:-

Is it right you had the opportunity to come here when you were a teenager?

I had the opportunity when I was 14. I could have signed but I just thought that, at the age I was, I might have a better chance of playing first-team football at Wolves – and that's how it worked out. I don't regret it, because I got into the Wolves team when I was just 17. I never regret things in life. By being at Wolves and going to the clubs I've been to – these things have led me to where I am today. There has been talk and speculation about a transfer since then but until now it has always been speculation.

seems strange to me, i guess if any of us were in that situation I would have walked over hot coals to sign for liverpool at 14.

if I hadnt have and the opportunity never came around again, I'd regret it for the rest of my life never mind my professional career

The difference being that Pennant, Bellamy and Keane were all on record a long time before joining Liverpool as saying they were Liverpool fans. Indeed, I recall Pennant, on signing for Arsenal at 15 or 16, being asked by a journo what his professional ambition was and he replied without hesitation "To play for Liverpool".

I do remember Bellemy saying he was a reds fan, but werent there some doubs about the validity of that comment?
My mate from Cardiff knew Bellamy years ago and indeed went to Bellamy's wedding. He told me that Bellamy was always a Liverpool fan

He said years ago that it was because Liverpool had the likes of Fowler and Owen etc on the scene and he couldn't see himself getting in the first team any time soon if he'd signed, so chose Wolves where he got into the first team much quicker and made a name for himself

Harry Kewell is a lifelong fan, said it was his dream to lie on the treatment table at Melwood longer than anyone else.

Who can take that away from him after all he succeeded.

p.s....sorry I have been informed that his dream has changed, apparently it has always been his dream to play in Turkey.
