only a prick would think otherwise.
The difference is we are improving. If we finished second this year then thats an improvement. You dont get rid of things that are improving, you get rid when things appear to be going backwards. Just like with Houllier, Evans and Souness. When we start going backwards with Rafa, thats the time to get rid.Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, put your hands all over my body.

thing is financially it was pretty even between the clubs and managers (and players) would get a lot longer to show their worth.Originally posted by Chrono View PostDid he really go from 11th to 2nd to 11th again? Mental

Or do you prefer not to comment like the time one poster listed what Fergie and Wenger have won in their first 5 years?so wenger won it in his 1st season and furguson came 2nd in his second season. both better starts than rafa or have i interpreted your own stats wrong?Originally posted by Clapper View PostHere is Fergusons first 5 years in the league with ManUre :
86/87 : 11
87/88 : 2
88/89 : 11
89/90 : 13
90/91 : 6
It is widely believed, that Ferguson was one cup-game from being sacked in 89/90, but even though his league positions the first 5 years doesn't show much improvement, I think that the ManUre supporters are happy, that they didn't have a Manchester-Rage as the chairman.

i excluded shanks as he started in the old second division. he weren't gonna win the title from there straight away.Originally posted by Redspin View PostShankly won the league in 1964 and 1966 with the FA Cup in between and then went 7 years until 1973 before winning the league again and he wasn't sacked for the total lack of a trophy in that period.
You can't just exclude him because it doesn't fit your argument that our managers going 5 years without winning the title didn't keep their jobs - because he clearly did
as for him going 5 years without winning it thats fine because he'd already proven that he could win it

thats fair enough, at least its not support him regardless else you're not a fan bull****.Originally posted by The Glove View PostThe difference is we are improving. i didn't resurrect this thread but clearly my views have not changed. i wanted us still in the title race at xmas and clearly we're sitting pretty on top so there is no need to sack rafa at xmas. if we were trailing badly like in all of rafa's previous years then i wanted us to wipe the season clean and start re-building in january. people may disagree with me but again i see it as a perfectly valid opinion to have held at the beginning of the season
i also want him to deliver the title this year or get sacked. whether people agree with my opinion or not it is a valid opinion to hold. rafa is in his 5th season, has been supported better than any previous liverpool manager and without getting into net gross spend crap its about time he delivered.

I hate to use the obvious example, but where would the Scum be had they followed your blueprint of 5yrs to Deliver the Title or your sacked.Originally posted by rage View Postthats fair enough, at least its not support him regardless else you're not a fan bull****.

OK, fair enough......we need to be challengingOriginally posted by rage View Postwenger will never get sacked - he's won too much there.
fergie will not leave this year, he'll want to beat our title haul
scolari is a good coach and will be given at least 2 seasons
rafa's had four seasons and is further away from the title than houllier was. this will be his last season if he fails to sustain a genuine challenge. if we're playing serious catch up by xmas again this season then he should go!

It looks like you just keep raising the bar so Rafa has no hope at all really, if he wins the title he should probably get the sack for not amassing enough points.
And of course you need to take net spend into account
he has raised the value of the squad no-end. The team is much more valuable, sellable and better now, there is constant improvement in most areas.
* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

So if we win the title this year under Rafa you wont call for him to be sacked for the next 5 years?Originally posted by rage View Posti excluded shanks as he started in the old second division. he weren't gonna win the title from there straight away.

That was a very weak answer from you. Tell me then, should Ferhuson have been fired after his third, fourth of maybe fifth season. There was surely not much improvement since his second place the following years?Originally posted by rage View Postso wenger won it in his 1st season and furguson came 2nd in his second season. both better starts than rafa or have i interpreted your own stats wrong?

You are completely right. We are currently leading the Premier League, is on to the next rounds of the CL, something we wouldn't dream of before Rafa and Rage is constantly critizising him.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostOK, fair enough......we need to be challenging

for ferguson, at that time, utd winning the fa cup was considered a huge success. souness won the fa cup and all said and done we sacked him soon after.Originally posted by Clapper View PostThat was a very weak answer from you. ferguson got a stay of execution because of the fa cup, tell me if all we won this year was the fa cup would it be enough? even so long without the title we have more ambition than that

some more post rafa revisionist nonsense. we've topped the league under houllier and qualified for the knock out stages of europe as well.Originally posted by Clapper View PostYou are completely right. also where exactly have i criticised rafa here? i've made clear what i think should happen if he doesn't deliver the title.

You invent things that suit you. An FA Cup was not considered a huge success and you still avoid answering my question. There was no improvement in the first 5 years under Ferguson. Should he have been sacked?Originally posted by rage View Postfor ferguson, at that time, utd winning the fa cup was considered a huge success. souness won the fa cup and all said and done we sacked him soon after.

Before the start of 89/90, Ferguson invested heavily in players, and there was even a banner saying : Three years of excuses and it's still crap.
Still he stayed and he have done pretty good since.
