    Meh

We always struggle in the first qualifier. Players are always slow starters. BUt seriously XABI!! How many free kicks does 1 man need to deliver a decent ball or hit the target? Such a frustrating player Xabi. Couldnt help but wonder what a difference Barry's crosses and free kicks would have made instead

But never fear, Pepe Reina is here. I was pissing myself laughing when that left-back stepped up to take the penalty. Poor kid had no chance

We will destroy them at Anfield

      I agree.

But its not often that we get so comprehensively out-played.

Thought they we a very good side to be fair, but we were woeful. Like has been said, we always make a meal of these games, but usually we come away with a scabby goal or 2 to take back home. Cant afford any nonsense for the 2nd leg- a massive banana skin potentially.
        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Like I said before, I don't think we have the players to play a 4-4-2 formation. We don't have adequate players on the wing and that's why we don't play that formation very well.

Shouldnt you have posted this is tne "Barry" thread?

a lot of credit has to go to liege for the way in which they approached the game but the 2nd leg at anfield is a totally different matter. however, right from the kick off our tempo was slow and there was no real urgency to our play. I think our players were treating it like a pre-season friendly but after about 10 minutes we all knew we were in a game.

Not at all convinced by the formation we seem to be favouring. When we don't have success playing it through the middle, which was probably always going to happen with 'Sideways pass Plessis' in the middle, we have no other options. We started booting it up to Torres which is a complete waste of 2 £20million strikers.

Poor Pissing Performance...Very disappointed by our play. We were extremely lucky and thanks to Pepe for saving our ass

yesterday we played 442 which we cant play as we dont have the players to play it. When liege quickly figured out that alonso was our first ball from the back they marked him tighter which meant that it was left to plessis, yossi and kuyt to take up the challenge.

You cant have a go at plessis because he is only young and his position is defensive midfield, but yossi and kuyt didnt produce anything positive in the whole match. Neither of them is a wide player but they are being played there which doesnt make any sense.

Keane and torres didnt have a sniff and our counter attacks were pedestrian. why play 442 if you dont have the players to play the system.

For me this was one of the worst aspects of the night. Long high balls to Keane as if could go for them like Crouch. He was trying, so was Torres, but honestly. Although to be fair, it did look as though the pressure that Liege were putting on us made playing football too hard.

We had a team out on the pitch that cost around 80million and we got taken to the cleaners.

Lets see what transpires eh, i wont say i'm confident, i was, but that last night knocked most of it out of me if i'm honest.

But i know enough about football to realise one bad game could be followed by 20 great ones.

That's one way of looking at it, we still in the CL. Maybe this is exactly the type of game that we needed, now we can go out sign two more players and Rafa will deffo kick some ass in training.

We lost to Barnsley last season and then beat Inter Milan
