no width, no creativtiy, no urgency, no cutting edge. What the **** do they do in training? they sure as hell dont ****ing play football. Disgusting
I'll tell you what any other top 10 premiership team would batter them.
Per-spec-tive.
Yes we were ****, but it's no disaster at this stage. Play like that on Saturday and the criticism will be fair. 0-0 away from home in Europe with the second leg at home is not a bad result despite the poor performance. Throwing away two points on Saturday would be.

Agree with Dossena, I can see why he wasnt on the Italian team for the European championships.Originally posted by rage View Postas bad a performance as i've ever seen in europe under rafa. not one chance and outplayed in every offensive position.
both dossena and keane look minimal upgrades, if at all. arbeloa is a crap full back, offers nothing going forward and kuyt and yossi proved once more that we should have improved in the wide positions.
we were lucky and i also think the yanks will not sanction any more signings until after and IF we qualify.
That performance has me feeling very uneasy about this season.
I think Keane was fine, himself and Torres could only deal with scraps and long ball tactics. We lack two wide players and Mascherano!

How can you possibly say that? Do you not feel a bit of a muppet for making a judgment call after one game?Originally posted by rage View Post

We were utterly abject but I still can't believe the doom-mongering. "We are in trouble on Saturday" - FFS! ONE ****ing game! Away in Europe in a hostile, partisan atmosphere. Christ on a ****ing bike. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Dossenna looks comfortable but certainly not the "best left back in Italy" that macia described. Keane will come good, our strikers are only as good as the support and Kuyt and Benayoun are not good enough.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostHow can you possibly say that? Overall it's our style of play and long ball mentality that's to blame.

Do you not think that the stadium of light on Saturday 5:15pm will mirror this situation tonight?Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostAway in Europe in a hostile, partisan atmosphere. Christ on a ****ing bike.
Tonight was not good enough. Lazio last friday was the warning signs. We dont create any chances!

No because the last time I looked, Sunderland was a few miles south of Newcastle. Not in Europe.Originally posted by Hustler View PostDo you not think that the stadium of light on Saturday 5:15pm will mirror this situation tonight?
And no I don't think it'll be a similar atmosphere. It might be loud but it won't be hostile and it's not new territory for us.
If we're as woeful on Saturday then I'll be deeply unhappy, but the knives do not come out before the league season has even started FFS.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think that was down to Plessis's inexperience and Alonso getting out-muscled as much as anything (hence Rafa's idea to swap him for Barry). Once Gerrard came on we started to hold the ball a bit better, but we were over-run too often in midfield for most of the game and ended up playing rushed long-balls. We've got to instill a bit more patience and composure in the squad as a whole and stop the pointless hoofs upfield under pressure. I don't think it will happen once Mascher and Gerrard are back in the middle, but it's worrying that our lesser players seem to take the easy option too often.Originally posted by Rashid View PostDossenna looks comfortable but certainly not the "best left back in Italy" that macia described. Perspective. First competitive game of the season. Clearly complacent and players still on holiday mode. Contrast that with Liege for whom this could well be their biggest game of the season. 0-0 is far from disaster and will bring the players on greatly for saturday. Can't beat competitive action to bring on a team and this will kick their arse into the new season. Also very much doubt that tonight was an exact barometer of how Keane or Dossena will perform for the rest of their Liverpool careers. Perspective!
