The standard of football is a disgrace to out club and I have to say like I have always said, it's not the players or the system, it is a total lack of quality in our passing and football - we won't be a top team until we improve our passing and movement.

as bad a performance as i've ever seen in europe under rafa. not one chance and outplayed in every offensive position.

both dossena and keane look minimal upgrades, if at all. arbeloa is a crap full back, offers nothing going forward and kuyt and yossi proved once more that we should have improved in the wide positions.

we were lucky and i also think the yanks will not sanction any more signings until after and IF we qualify.

Terrible performance but they were up for it and exceeded our desire. They ran around like a bunch of possessed men but that was to be expected. Its not a bad game for us though as this will give some people a kick up the ass in time for the weekend.

However, it does worry me that we still seem to be weak in the same areas as always and by that I mean a truely world class attacking winger. We've also had to introduce Gerrard in order to make the difference.

This was the same sort of performance that we've been used to for the last couple of seasons from Alonso, the same level of quality as we expect from our squad whenever we have Gerrard missing.

I have belief though that we'll have a good season from Babel, Keane will get a lot better and our back four will concede less goals than last season.

We definitley need Barry, but playing Alonso in the CL has put an end to that hope.

I did state it was a poor performance where we created nothing whatsoever, I agree with you there. And we will need better performances for sure, we simply weren't good enough.

But that said, 0-0 is still a good basis to go through to the next round, which is the most important.
