I may be wrong but I think the Mascherano fee was negotiated at the start of his loan deal and this was prior to the inflated price was payed for Hargreaves, and you know how inflated the fees for English players are.Originally posted by Rashid View PostDoes Parry get a gold medal for negotiating a bargain fee for Torres? And getting Mascherano for the same price as Hargreaves?
Oh not, that would be Rafa right?

I'm not even taking Rafa or Alonso's side in the matter. Just someone said Rafa had been talking crap about Alonso yet I have seen no proof of this.Originally posted by Scratch View PostDon't be daft, you can;t use genuine quotes from the manager to combat internet rumour and slander, people believe what they want to believe, especially when it involves their beloved Alonso, the man who can do no wrong

If Alonso is so desperate to leave, then perhaps offer him to Villa? Value Xabi and Barry at £1m, swap them and give RS 6m euros. We just need a solution to all this mess.Last edited by TheElephantMan; 19-08-08, 02:54 PM.

Course we wont know till it happens, but lets be honest Parry has been the biggest problem in us getting the players in or making them want to stay. Surely its better having the person who knows football inside out doing the transfers and knowing how he wants his team to play than an accountant? Give Rafa a transfer budget and wage limit and let him go at it, we might have had Alves instead of Pennant that way.Originally posted by Resu View PostHow do we know Rafa is any better? He didn`t do the transfer dealings at Valencia.

And so by your argument it is not Rafa's fault. You've changed Rashid I thought you were one of the Rafa bashersOriginally posted by Rashid View PostNeither Wenger nor Fergie "do the transfers" - they just recommend players like every other top club. Give it a rest, Rafa has **** all experience of buying players. We will end up making his agent rich and it isn't ethical either.

What has Alonso done? Missing the Inter match for the birth of his child (I would have done the same!)? Passing along a recommendation for a coach who had already left the team? I mean, this is petty bull****. The reality is, Rafa is a system guy and..Originally posted by Scratch View PostDon't be daft, you can;t use genuine quotes from the manager to combat internet rumour and slander, people believe what they want to believe, especially when it involves their beloved Alonso, the man who can do no wrong
a) after a year of injury he wasn't sure Alonso would be back to form; HE wanted this deal done last May.
b) He thinks Barry is better for his system and saves him having to actually buy a winger (what the man has against wingers I have no clue *ha*)
c) Rafa is an obsessive control freak, a creative type who wants it his way and is looking to solve our problems in the league and in Europe. I completely want someone like that managing my side, end of.
d) Rafa is way too public with his feelings. Keep it in the boot room!

Not saying Rafa spoke crap about Alonso, I'm talking about Rafa's comments along the lines of "Xabi knows our ideas, and he knows why" etc, which seemed very much to be burning bridges. You don't make comments like that unless you know the guy is definitely out the door.Originally posted by Reece View PostI'm not even taking Rafa or Alonso's side in the matter. My initial post was a bit misleading so I apologise for that. I didn't mean to suggest Rafa had trash-talked Alonso, I meant that I surprised he was making such comments given that Alonso had been such a key part of the team.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

Benitez is hardly consistently brilliant in the transfer market though is he? Regardless of negotiating the actual deals on the finance side his record at choosing the players is pretty patchy.Originally posted by Woobus View PostCourse we wont know till it happens, but lets be honest Parry has been the biggest problem in us getting the players in or making them want to stay. And its very easy to blame Parry for everything but on the whole Benitez has ended up getting a decent number of his transfer targets. And not sure what you mean about us having a problem 'making them want to stay' as from what I remember the last player who talked about leaving with Steven Gerrard and it was Parry who he said was on the phone to him all night trying to convince him to stay.

If you are going to take Parry's and try to defend him I think I might sit back and watch.
This should be a giggle
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24
