Since May, yes, i agree. It was the fact that you put last May that confused me, i assumed you meant May 2007. My mistake.

Whether this is Rafa's fault or Parry's i don't know but what i do know is the club has unsettled a player that may turn out to be key for us in the next couple of weeks and in the long term that helps no-one.
Hmmm that doesnt sound like to many or the United Chelsea transfers, suppose no one has heard of united after Berbatov or Chelsea after Robinho. The Spurs owner must have called Rafa the worse ever critic instead of Ferguson and Rafa must have been caught in hotel rooms with Cashley Cole.
Wise up all the top teams do it, and we are probably no where near the worse.

Did anyone else feel that Tony Barrett was having a pop at Rafa in that article? Normally his articles are very defensive of Rafa and focus the criticism on the owners and a lesser extent Parry. Yet for the first time i can remember its more Rafa bashing than the yanks and Parry.

The bit that shocked me the most from TB was that he basically said that Rafa wont walk away because he earns millions from his contract so thus has no principles and that he wouldnt want to loose face by losing out to Parry.
When has Barrett ever been so harsh on Rafa? Also does it signify a fall out between Barrett and Rafa because if i was Rafa i would be pretty pissed with what he wrote
“Hicks could have purchased Dallas’ MLS franchise but decided not to. ‘In hindsight, I probably made the wrong decision,’ he said.“.

                We have him until 2012

                2) Must have been Parry all the way!
has that been resigned then? we've had him for 4 yrs so the original agreemtn may have expired and therefore we may not be bound by the old terms? unless PArry has transferred these terms over to the new contract..

                  This is what Iv'e been told;

Alonso's agent Still thinks deals to sell Alonso and to buy Barry will go through, but from what I have been told, We will have to ruduce our valuation of Alonso and increae our bid for Barry.

The transfer hasn't been helped by a stuborn Benitez, who can't undertand why Villa don't rate Barry at around 15 million, but his whole way of playing this season is based around two defensive midfileders of Barry & Mascherano.

As for Parry, he's taking the falk for the owners, who don't see any value in the transfer of Alonso (at a loss) for Barry.
It's a "Trade" they don't understand & even Parry can't talk them round.

This has come from a good mate, who knows someone close to Alonso's agencey.

I think everyone has been a bit over sensitive. Rafa has never slated him but he has made it obvious that he is no longer indispensable. I'm not sure where I stand on this as the articles and way things have panned out seem contradictory to me. The key for me is when Rafa was saying Xabi "knows my ideas" that he had been honest with him. If he was then fair play if as some of the recent articles stirring the pot have it he was unaware of what Rafa wanted to do then that is low.

He has also referred to him as an excellent professional.

I really don't see what is so bad. If someone can dig out a quote where he has slagged off or criticised Xabi then I will take it back.

Alot of people are forgetting Xabi`s form the last few seasons. He`s had a few good games recently but overall hasn`t impressed for most of his last few games. His free kick taking and goal threat are what made him an essential part off the team. Now he`s dispensible.

What you say is true. BUT there is a seed of doubt. We all know, and I think even those most down on Xabi will agree, that on song Xabi is the best there is as influential as SG and Torres. The king of possesion football, the best deep-lying playmaker there is. Everytime he has a good game we think hurrahh, he's back.

Alas, I still think he'll get kicked / hustled out of games. But it's easy to remember the good times and believe that they'll be back. I just don't think they will. I think if a team targets Xabi and decides to take him out of the game, then they'll be able to do it pretty easily.

That I think is why Rafa wants to upgrade. And I'm willing to settle for more consistent less perfect performances from someone like Barry.

Will never forget Xabi for how he played against Everton when Steve got sent off, if he could bring that back every week then we wouldnt even be having this discussion. He can be a star and if he is going to stay lets hope he can prove Rafa wrong and be back to his old self.

I just can't wait until 1 September when we can put all this to bed for the time being, however it turns out before then.

                              Until January at least anyway

Rafa has a plan in place, and its obvious that barry was/is meant to be one of the keystones in this plan. Rafa should be aloud to sign barry for whatever price he feels is right and if that means geting rid of alonso, so be it. We on here know **** all about rafa`s plans for the style of play or the set up he wants this season.
The manager should be Backed this season, and at the end of it there can be no excuses.
