A very frustrated Lucas it seemed, and a bit harsh red card. Could (should perhaps) have been a yellow... Good second half in the game though!

I reckon he thought he was being clever. Mascher was on a great run up the middle, and I think Lucas thought if he stopped him there, then as he was nowhere near the last man and it wasn't two-footed (just cynical) he'd get away with a yellow. He'd have been right in the premiership too, there's no way that would have been a red. It's also what people have said for years that the England players should have done to Maradona when he went on his run in '86 - stop him well before he gets to the box.

Harsh red. But then, if you deliberately look to foul someone with no intention of getting the ball, maybe it should be a red card more often?
