i think captaincy is a load of bollox anyway. the fact that gerrard is our captain is fairly meaningless. it doesn't help us (other than being a bit of a sop to his ego) but it doesn't hinder us either. carra is the obvious natural leader on the pitch but there are others (reina, kuyt, sami, masher, robbie keane will be, torres will be etc...) and sometimes our teams looks to be composed entirely of captains like against arsenal in the CL last season.
