if rio ferdinand was made captain of england all liverpool fans would wipe their arses with the england shirt.

if steven gerrard was made captain of england all man u fans would no doubt do the same.

making john terry the captain means that both liverpol and man u fans remain behind england even though a chelsea player got it.

The appointment of terry might be politically motivated.

That article is pure vindictive pish. Bar the odd game when No-Clue McClaren was in charge, Gerrard has been excellent for England. Both with goals and driving the team on.
He has been fantastic for us as well. As another poster mentioned you only have to look at him wheeling his arms and encouraging the crowd in Istanbul. I don't think there has ever been a better example in the art of captaincy.
However I am not one bit bothered he hasn't got the engalnd gig.

I've always preferred carra as our captain. Won't happen though.

Couldn't give a **** about England tbh. Glad Stevie didn't get the captaincy. Leave it to those two pricks, Terry& Rio.

By the way, what sort of example is it for your vice-captain no to turn up for a drug test and get banned from the game for 8 months. Funny how the media seem to have forgotten all about that.

The primate slur is the one I heard.

Everyone remember when Chelsea played Tottenham a couple of years ago at WHL and Terry was sent off. Graham Poll heard him and sent him off, Terry had no excuse and walked, Lampard tried to cool down Drogba. Poll filled out the report, the FA banned Terry from competing for 10 or more games (can't remember) It was done behind closed doors as he was England captain at the time and Chelsea covered it up by saying he was injured. Allegedly

I can't believe that story for a second as it implies a level of competence at the FA in order to orchestrate the cover up.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                          Staggering indeed.
