Could we still attract the best managers?

I hope Rafa doesn't leave, but if he did I think we could attract the top names given the right circumstances. People like Wenger and Ferguson obviously wouldn't come mostly due to the rivalry, and I don't think we'd necessarily be able to poach managers from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Milan but other than that most managers would jump at the chance to manage in the Premiership especially one of the big fourThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The point is they had strong competitive squads to start off with, which they supplement with marquee signings which keeps those teams competitive. They were genuine title challengers then and to an extent still are now. As for us, we're behind the Mancs and Chavs, and fighting a losing battle in our attempts to catch up, in part because the owners won't back the manager.Originally posted by Rashid View PostSo?
The point is the manager there has spent less than Rafa over the past 4 years so I doubt very much that "budget" would be an issue as was suggsted.
I think a top, top brass manager will think twice about taking over at our club if he will be continually undermined as Rafa has over the last year. I consider it no coincidence that they sought to replace a stubborn, successful manager with a novice, one who would be less likely to put up any resistance to their involvement.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

Rash, can you calculate all those numbers again after they buy a striker and pay for Tevez please?Originally posted by Rashid View PostSo?

Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

How were Barca genuine challengers when Rijkaard took over? They hadn't win a single trophy for 5 years and spent every season in the Uefa cup being beaten by the likes of Houllier's Liverpool. They are ****ed and all over the place.Originally posted by Dhav View PostThe point is they had strong competitive squads to start off with, which they supplement with marquee signings which keeps those teams competitive. That team could have been kept as squad players and new players bought into the first team - instead he went about collecting squad players. The irony is he has won more with Houllier's men than he has with his own.Originally posted by Lerpwl View Postslating the team Benitez had when he took over is slightly harsh as we did win the champs league !!

Rafa is on £3m a year with massive bonuses if we wins the league of CL - it was in the Echo when he got a new contract after his first year.Originally posted by el matador View Posti think the £2.5m package that we might offer to the new manager might be enough to attract most top managers.
