Give me a ****ing Kit Kat would you ...we have seen **** all of Degen and Dossena has be pure class, his attacking play has been outstanding .. his delivery into the box 2nd to none, the way he wipes the ball in reminded me of Beckham in his hay day

I think we must differ on our ideas of 'pure class' and 'outstanding', but each to their's. I think Dossena's been alright so far, certainly nothing bad to report. I dont think he's been brilliant either but that's not a criticism.

As i said before, it's just first impressions, nobody is immune to them and they're not the same as making a conclusive judgement.

He is considered the best left back in Italy right now, he has established himself in the national squad, he had a champagne season last year, so far for us he has look one of our most dangerous players and he is just bedding in, hes a big lad who can shift and also cut a player in two and he can put the ball on the end of torres nose .. whats not to like about him ??? how can you say he is not as good as Evra based on what little you have seen because if you base it on last season, he is

And Degen has not played as single competitive game for Liverpool yet so even for the ****ing madness that is this place it is a little harsh to says not up to scratch already

Of course we do, he offers thoughtful, insightful posts that looks at the issue from both viewpoints, doesn't exagerrate purely for senstionalist views, and is always willing to see the other side of someones argument.

I like the look of him but he has 2 caps. One friendly a year ago and half a game recently.

To be fair, the fella did then point out his reasoning why he wasnt worried, and i take that on board but i personally found it to be a little dismissive of what i think are very real issues that we need to sort out quickly. Not wholly dismissive and it was unfair of me to respond in a manner that suggested he was dismissing those issues out of hand, because i realise he wasnt.

So to put it simply, i'm not totally sure it's just a case of getting Mascher back and telling the fullbacks to go forward a bit.

To point out though that i do too hold much hope, i can assure you that i AM going around thinking to myself, somewhat blindly perhaps "dont worry, it'll come, we're too good for this to continue, it'll get sorted soon...soon!"
I'd tend to agree, Mascher, and the odd bit of overlapping fullback play, will absolutely not solve the overall issue as its been seen in the last 2 weeks. However, neither thing will hurt much either. I'd like to think that we have enough talent in the squad these days to be able to improve and develop much better coherency and shape as the season develops. It would be brilliant if we can manage not to be out of the title race before that happens this time.

The ManU game will be so so crucial. A result, and a good performance, we really could kick on, no side is perfect and if we learn how to play to our strengths, well, some of them could really be very strong. A defeat and a bad display on the back of this unconvincing start will see the clouds inevitably darken considerably.

I think i'd actually prefer a poor performance, with a jammy undeserved 92nd minute winner at the Kop end, followed by a cut to the manc fans with tears dripping down their faces and then a shot of Ferguson's maroon coloured nose, trying not to sniffle.

But it'd be boring if we all wanted the same things.

As you say, early days for Dossena yet but from what I've seen he's got a good cross on him and isn't afraid to get stuck in. I just hope he doesn't keep taking blows to the head! Evra had a shocking start to his Premiership career in comparison so I'm quietly optimistic.

So then our width is reliant on Mascher being fit, Dossena and Degen finding their feet quickly in a new league and club and playing all games in all competitions? Lets hope they stay fit, especially Mascher.

It looks like Riera is nailed on, I would like to see us try for Downing or Milner.
