one minute you want us to paly a different type of football, more exciting and the next min ute you are saying that the 9 yr olds should be playing a tactical and methodical game! .....i dont think 9 yr olds have the mental capacity to take on board Rafa's instructions!!_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!

I didn't say that. The 9 year olds in my opinion should play pass and move - the Liverpool way.. not be bogged down by fitness and tactics. Rafa IMO should play the Liverpool way and not the other way round.Originally posted by red g View Postone minute you want us to paly a different type of football, more exciting and the next min ute you are saying that the 9 yr olds should be playing a tactical and methodical game! .....i dont think 9 yr olds have the mental capacity to take on board Rafa's instructions!!

Other teams like Arsenal and Barcelona and have copied them, and with greater resources are getting to players first. E.g. United now have a big academy in South Africa, which Ajax famously had years before. They still produce good players as much as anybody but it's not like the mid nineties conveyor belt.Originally posted by Parm View PostI have to say, I am a bit miffed as to what has happened to Ajax's fabled youth system, from the late 80's up to say 2001 ish they had a regular stream of players coming through who were amazing, but now...

No disrespect Rashid but it's horses for coarses I've heard some negative stuff about Rafa I've also heard some really positive stuff. I don't know Dave Usher from Adam or the other bloke so personally I take everything with a pinch of salt.
I do know that Heighway thought the academy was there to bring young local talent through and when Rafa wanted to bring young players from all over the world into the system the relationship broke down. Rafa as far as I know has no real control over the academy only what goes on at Melwood. So Rafa is making a point in starting up his own little academy at Melwood and not promoting from within. This might be Rafa being a cunt and proving a point however the manager should have full control of everything football as far as I'm concerned.
This info came from a coach at the academy by the way.Last edited by Pacman; 28-08-08, 05:18 PM.**** OFF HICKS AND GILLETT WE DON'T WANT YOU.

hmm, certainly it seems to have slowed down since the early 2000's when they had Mido, Zlatan, VDV, Snjeider, Babel, de jong, hetinga.Originally posted by Rashid View PostOther teams like Arsenal and Barcelona and have copied them, and with greater resources are getting to players first. I was alway impressed by their phiolosphy there and the way in which the players were genrally moulded.

Sounds like more BS to me. Some vague ucorroborated "inside info" used to beat Rafa. Like the way the anti-scouse angle is included to agitate the locals. And who the hell is this M.C. guy that he knows how to better structure an academy than a guy from the Ajax academy.

[QUOTE=Rashid;1141549]I don't see any under 9s in the reserves so this is obviously BS.Originally posted by dww View PostSo this bit is bollocks then:
That's not by Dave that's by M.C. Dave writes for the Echo so his post stands more IMO. M.C. said Rafa wanted control as part of his contract, weknow he wasn't given it as it's controlled and run by Piet Hamburg who doesn't even get on with Rafa - maybe the Ajax way and Rafa way are different?
Rafa now has his own one which he uses as reserves.
Unless you are objecting to Rafa bringing in 18-19 year olds and putting them in the reserves. But that would be daft wouldn't it, surely we get the best players from whereever they are and if they are at the academy level they go to the academy, if they're older they go into the reserves older and better still they go into the first team. I don't see a problem here?
So if Rafa can get better players than Piet can produce then well, Piet had better up his game. The Crushing Machine MKII

Ignore me if you will but if you post bull**** sullying the name of our club then I will not let that stand uncontested. Someone has to defend the club
