Chelsea bought loads of big players without being able to guarentee CL football at the time. If the money are big enough, a lot of players will move, and Robinho being the prime example now. He could have challenged for the spanish title and the CL, but choose to play for the 4-6th spot in the PL.

chelsea were in the cl already when they were bought by roman, btw there is more money in the pl than in the cl, however the cl gives us the money on top to "play with"

Their squad is weaker this season and either they have no money for transfers or Wenger is an idiot and refuses to spend it.
