Not defensive at all. An I ain't invoking the "superfan" card, hell i'd settle for your basic fan.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostA bit unnecessarily defensive, that. It's just a constructive criticism. And let's not invoke the superfan debate...
RVP doesn't get played out of position, he's played both left wing and centre forward regularly since he was a kid. I think Fergie would get **** for playing Rooney out wide if that decision meant his team underperformed. I think we were worse off playing Keane out wide.
I think all can agree that our best performance so far this year was against Villa, no?
And exactly how long was he on the left for?The Crushing Machine MKII

No-one said it wasn't Rafa. It's just that you've hung, drawn and quartered the guy on the basis of a 30 minute cameo. You DON'T KNOW that it won't work. It worked for Fergie, so why can't it work for us?Originally posted by rage View Postcome on el jef explain to me any reason whatsoever WE would buy robbie keane for 20 million and play him on the left? of course its Rafa its not like the lads decided he'll play there 'cos he fancies a change.
BUT before the lad has even been given a chance you are writing him off.The Crushing Machine MKII

Eh? The thread is supposed to be about Keane and the fact he was played out wide for some time on the weekend. Let's not veer away from the topic and unnecessarily turn the thread into some ridiculous extreme pro vs extreme anti Rafa bull****. Most people just want to talk about the club without being shoved into either of those two groups.Originally posted by El Jefecito View PostYou mean like us at the tail end of the season? Like us who scored more goals than any other PL team last year? Like us who have won more since Rafa has been here than Arsenal.

Could there possibly be other reasons for that? Any at all, or is it ALL down to this?Originally posted by Operation View PostNo, like us who don't win enough matches, but more significantly, it's not about history, it's about us playing really poor football this seaon, having no shape, not passing the ball well and looking clueless.
It couldn't be about, players learning a new system?
Not getting players till late because of the olympics?
SG having to play in CM instead of in the 3?
SG/Torres being injured?
Babel not match sharp yet?
etc
etc
Hell, no its ALL because Keane played for 30mins on the left.
Pathetic.The Crushing Machine MKII

I'll settle for nobody on this forum appointing themselves the judge of who is or isn't a good fan.Originally posted by El Jefecito View PostNot defensive at all. An I ain't invoking the "superfan" card, hell i'd settle for your basic fan.

I don't see how the overall quality of the performance or the length of time Keane was on the left for is relevant. The point is that he was there by design and Rafa has intimated he will be played out wide at times, something some people feel is a bad idea. It's pretty basic. You don't have to be an moronic Rafa-boooing cuntmonger to think if we want the best out of Keane we should only play him out wide in extenuating circumstances. It's just having an opinion on football which happens to be different to Rafa's!Like blood on iron

You said we under-performed when Keane was on the left. The match thread said that was our best performance this year!!!! I don't know what else I can say.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostI'll settle for nobody on this forum appointing themselves the judge of who is or isn't a good fan.

People are drawing conclusions based on a 30min max cameo. I say that's premature, you don't think so.

Whar scaremongering is that then? Or are you kneejerking and reading posts that aren't actually there because it supports your agenda of being surrounded by non-fans who wish to put down the club?Originally posted by El Jefecito View PostI will when people stop making ludricous arguments, easily shown as nothing more than emotive knee-jerking, putting down the club

You asked why Fergie isn't criticised in the same way. You got some pretty reasonably answers and then kicked off.
