    Fergie Always Gets His Man

I was watching the news this morning, keeping tabs on who went where last night. It always amazes me how everyone seems to leave it until the very last minute to go ****ing transfer crazy.

Anyway, on came the Berbatov video. Fergie met him at the airport, took him off in his Bentley and then arrived at his office to discuss the offer. Fergie put in the effort, made the ego feel wanted and special.

I'm not sure how we do things here, but from Rafa's comments about the Barry saga, he is not involved, its all Parry. I'm sure a similar thing happened when Owen went to Newcastle. Owen was whisked off with both Souness and Shearer who then sat with him (at Sounesses place I think) for several hours and again made him feel wanted. We held our discussions at a hotel, and I'm sure Rafa wasn't involved. At the end of the day, Newcastle offered a **** load of money to Real for his services and we couldn't match it, but thats not the point.

We have Parry doing our deals. The guy is not charismatic, he comes across to me as a bit of a bumbling cross between Tony Blair and Hugh Grant. He's not Alex Ferguson, thats for sure.

Of course Fergie is being backed financially to buy these players and Rafa is not, but, if we were able to spend and bring in a top class player or two every season, who do you think would win a negotiation? Parry who would no doubt meet up with said player in a Holiday Inn or Fergie who would be there to shake your hand off the plane? Rafa himself is not known for his communication skills, I think Gerrard himself has said that he doesn't really talk to the lads about anything other than on the training ground.

The Berbatov deal all seemed to slick, professional and rehearsed, I just don't have that feeling about the way we do our business.

I fully agree with you. Its the personal touches that make a huge difference to a player, its always nice to have your ego massaged and lest be fair here a massive business like Liverpool simply needs better than our current standards. We are so ****ing unprofessional it beggers belief. I swear to god i could do a better job than Parry and dare i say it Rafa. Well, when it comes to man management anyway!

I'm sure Torres said rafa was phoning him to try and persuade him to sign.

        seems a very valid point.

get the feeling even if Rafa was in full control he wouldn't pamper to the players ego.

supose it a compromise but do we want players we have to massage ther ego. But then we shoudl atleast show they are wanted.

Can;t help feeling the reason Stevie wanted to go and Owen leaving is due to this

I think Rafa can compete with the best in this regard when necessary. Didn't he spend a lot of time courting Mascher who was set on leaving the country after his West Ham spell was coming to an end?

That is true actually. Ok, i take it back. Rafa is the man, Parry is a clown who knows or does **** all.

Fergie always gets his man even if he has no permission to speak to his man.
Will the FA do anything about Fergies "Professional" approach?
It`s not hard getting your man when your offering him very high wages?

good point, Stevie did state that he didn't feel wanted at the time. The thing was the next morning Parry was interviewed walking into Anfield saying that he'd just received a text from Stevie saying that he'd changed his mind and decided to stay. What went on from the clubs perspective before that? Fergie went flying off in pursuit of Ronaldo and again convinced his man to stay when he'd been telling all that he only wanted to go to Real. You have to hand it to him, he gives it his all and from the outside, looks like a fantastic man manager.

He was rotting in the reserves and nobody except us was interested. We threw him a lifeline and for that he seems very greatful.

After being kidnapped at the airport and whisked away from the media I`d doubt he even knew City were interested.

can;t argue with slur alex and the way he treats his players.
does seem to be a very good man manager, look at Giggs, Scholes very well looked after.

Get the feeling Rafa is more distant.

did wonder when city said they'd be speaking to him later if the reporter had asked and did he have a scotish accent?

Rafa does like to do his part. I don't think he was really interested in Owen. He actually went to Mascherano's flat in London and picked him up. Great stuff

I'm sure Rafa phoned Torres on his mobile whilst El Nino was walking his dog telling him what was his role at the club was going to be Typical Rafa

So Rafa can do it just like Fergiescum. Shankly was the best at doing that stuff. I've heard stories about him picking up all sorts of players.
