kuyt has scored some pretty crucial goals for us and his fitness and work rate does put in the positions to do this. so him 'working hard' which often gets dismissed, literally bags us cruial goals.

so yes we'll lose a bit of money on them but isnt that the price for having to go for non first choice targets? it both raises the risk that they won't achieve what we want from them and it also means we cannot fairly say to the manager 'you built your team and it didnt work so thanks and goodbye'.
That's why i wouldnt go for them. They're plainly not good enough.

I'm not sure thats correct, I think he's always been in a position where he's had £20m or so to spend, but anything above that he's had to sell to buy.

Leave the squad a bit thin? We have a huge squad.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

The last two seasons he has spent his budget on Torres, Keane and Mascherano. The rest of his buys have been selling a squad player who hasnt worked out to try another option in the hope they do.

It seems to me that the Chavs and Mancs get their squad players from europe, very cheaply, youngsters we don't know about. If they're short due to injuries, they step up. Its not so much of a problem because of the quality around them. The transfers they make tend to be big as they spend only on the players that they think will really add something to the starting 11.

Rafa's starting to now do this and I hope it continues. I really don't think we now need to bring in anymore average players to plug holes, so it'll be interesting to see what he does from now on.

By that token I'd say that he could have kept some of them as squad players and improved the first team without having to buy 50 players, of which only about 40 have turned out Liverpool class.
Thats quite a comment which of those players do you think he should have kept then.

Also 80% success rate in transfers (according to your comment) isn't that bad a return.

Winning trophies is getting harder every year, much harder than when Houllier was boss.

              He`s a great manager isn`t he???

Is it really? FFS Harry Redknapp won one this year!

Which means Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal didn't, which kind of makes it a correct statement.

Maybe you should support them. You`d be happier in your life and we wouldn`t have to listen to your constant droning on and on and on about how bad you think Rafa is.

Every team that didn`t win a trophy last yr should sack their manager.

Rashid, I find it more and more frustrating that you are quick to criticise but do not offer any alternative, what in your opinion should the club do.

The point is that it's always difficult to win trophies but to say that Houllier's duds who won a European Cup and an FA Cup were not even good enough to be reserves and squad players is ridiculous.

Rafa didn't need to buy 50 players, keeping 20 and buying 20 good ones would have sufficed. That way he could have bought better quality without obsessing over squad players and then moaning about our rivals spending big one ONE player etc.

We should win a trophy every yr,it`s our divine right.

                                How does that prove anything

OK so Chelsea have spent big and even they didn't win anything, but in contrast Portsmouth spent little and did...
