Good coach, not necessarily a good manager. His transfer record on the whole is average to decent not great, his man management with owners, other directors and some players is poor and his style of play is akin to Houllier's or only a slight improvement.

But if you want a result in a cup game playing pragmatic football, he is your man.

2006: FA cup and Super cup (2 trophies).

Sorry to poke holes in your argument
The vast majority of the teams were Houllier's men. Today with his own men has won nothing and plays an even worse style of football. Sorry to cut holes in your blind devotion.

I`ve seen him make mistakes just as I`ve seen Wenger,Fergie and Chelsea`s conglomeration of managers recently.I`ve also seen him pull some masterstrokes.

That doesnt really make much sense, if you think before he only bought average players then how did he manage to get us to two champs league finals while winning one, winning an FA cup and finishing the league with the highest ever total points for a Liverpool team?
Surely if you believe he bought so badly then he must have made the very best out of the average players to achieve those things.

every manager makes mistake in the market, Fergie has had some utter dross buys, as has Arsene etc etc etc. Rafa's major buys have all been quality

we play much better football than Houlliers final side ever did

The mistakes are much easier to stomach when you win the league or challenge for it every year, despite them

The Champions League and League are won with contrasting styles of play, hence why the Mancs were far more defensive in it than they were in the league last year. Even Gerrard said today that Rafa is cautious and defensive in the league especially in the big games.

He has bought some good some bad but he is a genius at winning games with organisation, what he isn't very good at is building teams and having them play good football.

I'm talking about the here and now. We have the squad to challenge now, and challenge, he must. Playing players out of position, isnt doing the best with what you've got.

Cant agree with that, the team he has now is far stronger than what he started with. As I said earlier we are now getting full of players over the 10 million mark whereas before we only really had 2.
After X-mas last year we were playing some nice football, totally controlling games and playing our football in their halfs for nearly all the match. You dont score over 100 goals in a season by playing droll football all the time.

He still does not know what his best team or formation is. 4 years on
