    Istanbul 2005

(By the way I've said that stuff many a time but people choose to ignore it)

However, he's made some stupid mistakes to boot. I can see both sides but there are some that can't and aren't willing to accept the fact that he makes mistakes

You know I love Rafa and think he's the right man for the job but it does grind you down when every other thread is a Rafa bashing thread. People call me part of the RCDNW brigade and it's just not true. Us Rafa believers know he's made mistakes in the transfer market and during games but as Red Chilli said he's only human however the bitterness by some posters on here towards Rafa and certain players leads to posters like me going on the defensive and then leads to abuse.

I mean FFS the man brought us number 5 he should be given more respect IMO.
**** OFF HICKS AND GILLETT WE DON'T WANT YOU.

6 months ago more people had absolute faith in rafa. there was a fight between the yanks and rafa and we took the side of rafa. this distracted from our inability to compete in the league.

as for abuse, i don't see sarb, rashid or i personally abusing anyone.

do you think our attacking cheap buys have been enough of an improvement over houlliers players?
I don't think you get quality attacking players "cheap" in this day and age, but I don't think you can win the league with 14 players in your squad in this day and age either.

LFC is a bit like the public sector. For years, under previous regimes (the Tories) it was underfunded but continued to tick over. Then Labour (Rafa) came in and realised that it had been underfunded for decades. So what do you do?

Labour has thrown money at it, and hasn't improved efficiency one bit. Hence, it's essentially failed. Rafa hasn't got the money to throw at it, so he's improved efficiency and has improved the infrastructure and the overall squad quality.
If he had had the money to make up for 16 years of underfunding, he could have turned it around much quicker, but to date he hasn't had that money.

Respect isn't praising the guy day in day out and ignoring mistakes. I dont refer to you as being in the RCDNW brigade

But I don't have an agenda against the guy either. 2005 was 2005. Since he's been here we haven't maintained a title challenge and that's the issue for me. We've got some good players who are misused for one reason or another

every thread is not a rafa bashing thread by the way, another myth pushed forward by the rcdnw posters. just have a look on the threads on the first thread page. there are two threads running about rafa, both with his name in the title. of course in such threads we're going to discuss him. feel free to create a thread called the power of the kop or something. i'm sure that i'll post something positive in there and not mention anything about rafa. i'm also sure that very soon it'll be on page 2 or 3 of the threads page.

Baros wouldnt have been able to play on the wing for starters....he was a headless chicken.

labour or tories. ha. whats worse someone who doesn't spend any money or someone who spends it all frivolously? there is some revisionist stuff being wrote here amigo. we were not underfunded for 16 years. we just failed to buy the right players and also when we had good players management was weak.

evan's era we spent significant amounts of money, same under houllier and rafa. this isn't about resources (coming back to your labour & tory analogy) but rather about spending the money in the right places.

Reina - £6mil ish for one of the worlds best keepers - Very cheap.
Agger & Skrtel - £5mil a piece for quality young defenders - Very cheap.
Arbeloa - Jury's still out somewhat but at £2.5mil I think he's done more than enough to justify his fee.
Torres - The worlds best striker for £20mil, surely for the quality of the player that's cheap too?
He had superby well with defensive players and hats off, but they don't cost that much these either unless you are Chelsea!

United bought Evra and Vidic during the same period for peanuts.

When I say underfunded, public sector was underfunded, LFC wasn't as well funded as it's competitors (SCUM)

the best run councils are tory. nothing to do with funding but rather maximising use of resources. discussion for another thread i think. which council would you prefer to live in a tory or labour or run one?
