£5.5mil and £7mil so the pair cost more than Skrtel and Agger. I'm not saying Utd didn't do good business there, in fact I can't think of four better value defenders purchased in recent years but there has been some massive sums spent on defenders and not just by Chelsea.

Boumsong, Coliccini, Curtis Davies, Stam and Ferdinand (although I guess the Mancs would say they were worth it), Bale, Ferreira, and there are many more. Campare those to the relatively cheap aquisitions of Agger and Skrtel and rage is definately wrong that none of Rafa's cheap buys have worked out.

But I don't have an agenda against the guy either. 2005 was 2005. Since he's been here we haven't maintained a title challenge and that's the issue for me. We've got some good players who are misused for one reason or another
I didn't say he should be praised every day but by the same token she shouldn't have the back ripped out of him every day.

Thankfully it has calmed down, maybe the mods had words with the worst offenders. A couple of weeks ago it was terrible with loads of threads in the transfer speculation all going on about Rafa, then in here loads of threads hijacked as well. I really still cant understand how the Chelsea women vs Liverpools women thread was hijacked, think that shows how bad it got. Even the DIC thread got hijacked during the weekend with people ranting about Rafa, thankfully they were all deleted.
Its been the same old discussion for about a month with both sides saying the same thing. If I never hear the term net spend again I will be very happy.

but as i said i didn't think agger and skertl for us were cheap. but on this point i'd love to be proven wrong. players like santa cruz and evra spring immediately to mind. they are out there we just haven't been able to spot them

(By the way I've said that stuff many a time but people choose to ignore it)

However, he's made some stupid mistakes to boot. I can see both sides but there are some that can't and aren't willing to accept the fact that he makes mistakes
I don't think we have seen any evidence of that yet as no-one has broken into the first team on a regular basis.

I agree. He he shouldn't have the back back ripped out of him every day. But more importantly, not in every f@cking thread in here.
I used to enjoy lurking on this forum because of the discussions in the football forums. These days though they are all about the same thing: Pro or anti Rafa. And it's not a debate that are evolving at all. The same posters discussing, using the same arguments. Most of them are not even trying to have an adult type of discussion, instead they're trying to win the debate. To deliver the verbal suckerpunch that noone has a valid reply to.
It's childish and very very tiresome to witness.
I'm all for everyones right to critizise or defend the manager. But do so in the appropriate threads. If f.ex. rafa makes one of his strange substitutions during a game, it shouldn't turn the "matchthread" into being about his achievements over the last 5 years. But it does..every single time...

If it doesn't change, then I'll simply find me another site to be lurking on. You'd hardly miss me, I know that, but I can't be the only one getting fed up with this. I really believe it's damaging to the site as such, and that's a shame IMO.

For now, I'll just hang out in the "jokes"-forum.... rant over

13 pages of the exact same arguement. Pacman is right we are 2nd and looking as strong as we ever have under Rafa. To me it seems like alot of people here are worried about the Manc game and are venting their frustrations here.
We will beat them Saturday and I dont see what is so special about them.
Arsenal blew the league first last year and then Chelsea did and even United nearly did in the end too. There was nothing between any of them last year and the CL was just the same. The Manc's got the handy side and met a Barca side with no striker and a crap Lyon side and Chelsea handed them the trophy in the Final.

Our side of the draw was the hardest and only for Riise we would have won it again last year. Very fine lines. The top four in England are the top 4 in Europe and that is a fact.
Rafa annoys me at times but he will get it right. Good football will come when the pressure of winning the league is lifted off our back too.
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful
                everyone wants to know

These debates are had on every LFC forum currently - there is a massive pro and anti Rafa agenda on every forum at the moment. It's reflective of the current fan view.
