I would find a way of starting Carra, Skrtel and Agger in the same side.

If that means playing Carra at right back, then so be it.

he's more likely to score than some of our attacking options i meant i'd go 3 at the back with agger skertl and carra and attack. 3 points is a must here imo. we drew too many games last year and we're already repeating this pattern. i'd rather go for it if we're down 1 nil rather than try and scrape a draw.

all this agger talk winds me up

I really like agger, he is a great player an has a good future ahead of him - noone knows whats going on behind the scenes so they make up rumours. I reckon if he was a known coke head or alchy the club would know and it would have been dealt with - for me those rumours are bollocks

Now he has had a year out, and it's going to take time to regain his fitness and form, and unfortunatley he is behind skrtel and carra at the moment who are playing well. He should be mature and professional enough to realise he if he wants to play for liverpool then he is just going to have to keep his head down, work hard, wait for his chance and then take it - i really really hope this is what he is thinking and all is ok.

but if he is thinking - na **** it, i haven't walked straight into the first team after injury and i think i should play every week regardless of fitness/form etc so **** it i can't be arsed being here i am off - then i don't want him

as i said i really like agger, and i'm pretty sure the latter is not the case - it's just people making complete mountains out of mole hills.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

It would be daft to break up the promising partnership of Carragher & Skrtel at the moment, I'd keep it going whilst it's working well but Agger is too good a player to be left out so the only answer is for Agger to replace Keane as he gets more goals than Keane.

as much as i dont want to see carra at right back, i'd have to agree with you. the only other option is the 3-5-2 formation i keep going on about.

              That's what I was thinking

              Not sure about it though.

                Delighted for Daniel

IT was smashing to see Daniel Agger back in a red shirt and scoring a good goal on his return too last night.

There may not have been many positives to take from the win against Crewe but Agger’s return to the first team fold was definitely one of them.

He has been so unlucky with the time it took for him to recover from that foot injury. Perhaps his confidence too has been hit.

It isn’t always easy getting back to your best after so long out but contrary to some wayward reports, I hear he has knuckled down and been anything but unsettled or unhappy within the camp.

Daniel’s a really good player at his best and I was delighted for him when he scored. Let’s hope we now see him challenging for his place regularly.

That will be good for him and for Liverpool.

He certainly seemed to have improved from his time there under Houllier.

The leadership point is a valid one, mind. But I think it's something that would develop naturally and perhaps become less relevant over time. Thinking back, there was no obvious leader in the Hansen and Lawrenson partenership and that was the best defensive pairing I've seen.
I sort of agree in that he has improved but at the same time I think his choice of pass when going forward remains suspect. One of the things I like about Arbeloa is his passing into midfield.

The point about Hansen-Lawrenson is a valid one but I think that has to come over time and while Agger and Skrtel might grow that sort of relationship in which people know when to take responsibility I think you have to pick the team now on the basis of both needing to learn their trade to differing degrees. Hopefully no matter what over a season they should get a chance together at some point.

We have missed a goal scoring defender for a while now. Hyypia was our only real goal threat from set pieces. I think he is too good to ignore and I would like to see Carragher at right back especially as he seems to like roaming forward a bit these days.

By having Sittles and Agga Doo at the back we have some more game intelligence and technical ability while still retaining the organisation of Carra.

I think we can then push further forward. I've noticed all the defensive type players start to have a go a bit more - Mascher, Carra, Skittles etc.

and whilst we're both agreeing. playing this way will mean that when we need to attack aurelio/dossena have increased freedom and we kind of end up with 3 at the back with masch sat in front. would love us to line up this way in the derby

Hopefully it meets your "high expectations"

agger's a class defender. infact you'll not hear me complain about any of our 4 centre backs, we're as strong as we need to be there. but then imo we were strong in these positions when rafa took over, although i have to say moving carra to centre back was a stroke of genius.

for me a key weakness we've always had is our lack of ability to break down teams with 10 defenders hence why playing agger is essential. agger brings the ball out which means alonso can pick the ball up further up the pitch, he scores goals and he defends as well as anyone

could agger play a holding role in midfield??
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

i don't know if he can close down fast enough, would like to see the experiment in a friendly next year or late on in a game

Would not actaully be that bad to slide Agger in at LB.

He loves going forward and poses a real threat when given the room with the ball. Would not be afraid at pushing up and then tracking back.

Think about it boys, a left back that can defend well
