Barry was excellent last night as well, pity we couldnt afford to have both of them in the team.

I would bet that was what Rafa had planned.

He was expecting to make a profit on the Xabi/Barry swap. In the end he couldn't sell Xabi for an acceptable fee and we kept him. I do not think Rafa is losing sleep over it.

Good chance we will end up with both if new owners come in and back Rafa.

Alonso is class. Was never in doubt. Was awesome against the English and European Champions. I remember some saying he'd get bossed by mid-table teams in the Premiership and he wasn't cut out for this league

hardly mate. no-one could deny that xabi has had 2 poor seasons and no one was disuputing that it may be time to look at other options despite knowing the class he has in his locker. with rafa, it seems to be 2 seasons that arent good enough and your out. which is fair enough i think.

however if he turns it around and puts in a stormer of a season, the it'll be like a new signing wont it and for sure, there's no need for barry. long may his good form continue.
