He has done well because he is exactly what we needed from a team perspective. An winger who stays pretty much on the wing.

His crosses both against Utd and Marseille were ones as fans we are screaming for someone to get on the end of. Something we havent been able to do well, either at the start of this season or last.

He may not be most fans choice for the LW in terms of a signing but he fits into the team very well. Hope he continues to do well

Yep, he plays football the way fans like to see it played, skill, flair, tricks, and most of all penetration, the others are useless without penetration.....get in Rafa, could have bought us a real gem here, early days as we all know, but may end up being an absolute bargain.

The missing link, piece, in that puzzle thingymabob.

Done himself no harm again last night and i hope he gets a start against stoke at the weekend. Could be contender for bargain of the season if the £5.5million quoted is true!

Yep - his performance against the Mancs made him our latest player with the "best debut since Rob Jones" tag. He followed that up nicely with his contribution last night. It is still very early days, but I like the fact that he doesn't appear to be lightweight, is happy to do his share of defending, and his first reaction when he gets the ball seems to be to try and beat his man.

Like Rashid said above, I wasn't that excited when we signed him, but so far he looks impressive.

seems to have a great awareness of what's around him - goes past players and can still lay the ball off.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

indeed, he does have a very good touch and makes the flicks and tricks when they are required. He looks comfortable going wide or left and has goos vision and movement. As you say very early days but if he carries on in this vein then he will be some player. I just wonder what he is like when he really gets down the wing and puts in crosses.

Bit of an understatement there...at the start you were scathing in your condemnation....

He's not the quickest in a race but he is quick in his mind.

                  The Rafa player.

My Citeh supporting mates in work say he looks like a different player than he did playing for them. They also pointed out that he played under Stuart Pearce whilst at Citeh who like to play about 8 centre halfs! I think he will thrive at Liverpool so long as we keep trying to play attacking football.

It’s been a similar story here. City fans are renowned for their gallows humour (although, sadly, that may change now they’re the richest club in the world) it’s been no different with Riera. To a man they’ve been bewildered by his impressive performances so far. One said “he went past more men against the Munichs (sic) alone than he did in his whole time with us”

I fancy him to score on Saturday..cutting through the Stoke defence to bang in 2 goals in a 5-1 win.

I'll give it another 3-4 weeks and if he hasn't scored he will be getting slated on here.

He's too slow or wingers need to score goals blah blah blah

You mark my words , he'll be the next scapegoat if our results take a downward spiral ( but I hope they don't )

I bet Rashid, Sarb and Rage will be the first in that queue.
