This is where your reasoning falls down....it was the same for every manager in the old days as it's the same for every manager in todays game, Shanks, Paisley and co had the same amount of subs as the teams they competed with....as does Rafa today, it's how they use them not how many they have. imo.

To be fair.....you really can't compare managers from different eras on their performances in their respective times in charge...it's impossible.
