    Corners

We had 20 of them against Stoke today. 20. I've noticed a trend with our games as has everyone else. Whenever I see us taking corner I think, 'What awesome way are they going to screw this one?'. I dont get it. Maybe corners is ONE thing we dont practice. Ever.

We are brutal at them. Never look like we really want to score from them. Carra should be going up for them
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

The Stoke players also gladly put the ball out for corners when they where under pressure. Almost looked like they knew we'd scr*w them up anyway.

Embarassing some of the 'attempts' at corners we have made. Beat the first man FFS!!!!!!!!!

Both Gerrard and Alonso are awful at them and on the odd occasion we actually get a do get a decent cross in, everyone in the box is so surprised we don't bother trying to get to it.

Our centre halves should be getting at least one half decent chance a game from corners but Carra never goes up and Skrtel loses the aggression he show's everywhere else o the pitch!!

Would prefer to see Kuyt / Aurelio / Riera delivering with Gerrard trying to get on the end of them.

The puzzling thing is that SG is probably our best option with regard to actually getting on the end of a decent corner. It seems daft for him to be taking any.

When did we last score directly from a corner (excluding any from Hyppia as he is a god in the air)?
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Complete farce. I've been saying the same thing for two or three years now about us and corners.

              Sort it out ffs.

              So awfully poor at them.

Aurelio would be a better option for us.

I think the "we can't beat the first man at a corner" criticism is over played.

Of course, it's accurate, but the point is we are aiming for the "near post corner". It's very difficult to defend against when it is delivered well but the problem is it's a very fine line between the perfect delivery and hitting the first man.

I do wish we'd try an alternative to the near post corner routine though. I mean 20 **** ups is pretty pointless.

SG isn't that good with them either (he's not sh*te, but you know what I mean).

He should be lurking outside the area, feeding of the cleared headers. There's a lot of them it seems...

Today we had Riera, Dossena, Skrtel, Carragher, Arbeloa, Torres and Kuyt all capable of putting some physical presence in there, but nothing. In 20.

Please. Sort it. Now it's just a danger of being hit on the break after one. Arsenal anyone?

Remember the treble year. Our corners were awesome.

Gary Mac would land them on a sixpence at the near post, Heskey would flick the ball on and the rest of the team would take turns in getting on the end of it.

The only good corner kick this season was from Kuyt.

been saying this for ages, we've not had a decent corner taker since that fella!

Considering we've got the 'near post corner' right once in about 100 attempts, you'd think we might try something different.

Yeah, that's up to the manager I'm afraid
