Setanta's pundits did make a point of how poor arsenal are at defending set pieces. They didnt put it down to man-to-man marking though.

And i dont think it's down to it either, Arsenal are just poor at that aspect of the game. If they defended zones, i still think they'd be rubbish at defending set pieces.

You really think so? It sounds awfully paranoid to me. It's not radical to suggest that what Everton DID indeed need to do was pick up a man each and mark them.

I think we're reading too much into it myself.

no its not. I agree its not down to either but when we (rarely) let a set piece goal then its not down to zonal marking either

I think, with the nature of zonal marking, sometimes you WILL get goals conceded because of it. If you're competing from a standing start, against someone who has a running jump on you, it makes it harder. But that can happen even if you're not zonal marking.

The focus of pundits has been too heavily focused on ZM in my view and sometimes, you just concede because it was a great ball and the striker met it well and finished beautifully. So yes, to put it down to ZM every single time, as often happens, is somewhat lazy. It's an easy conclusion to make, so they go for it every time, which is daft.

Ok, ok, maybe I auto-tune out when I hear his voice or something

Well he didn't mention it as often as usual, that's progress anyway!

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

He's covered a couple of our games this season and I think he's actually sounding biased towards us. Most surprisingly, even when playing Everton.

It could be that he has had enough of Man Utd and Chelsea, and it could be that he sees us as the only other legitimate contenders, but I definitely detect a swing from his previous views.

He's still a complete cunt though.

I think all the andy gray stuff was bollocks anyway, people were complaining that he didnt lavish us with praise when we beat a ten man inter who still had more chances then us the game he was talking about.I think the guy talks sense and some liverpool fans are too sensitive.

I'm 100% for Zonal marking. I hate man marking as it's easier for the opponent to spin away from you.

He even said on more than one occasion that our is a formidable defence, and that it doesn't concede many from set pieces.

He didn't mention the zonal system directly, and he still can't bring himself to say he might have been wrong on that though.
                              Oh I don't know.
