That's a very generic thing to say though, when you take into account all the years of false dawns we've lived through, i dont blame anyone for keeping their feet on the ground.

Without mentioning names, this is something someone said on TLW on Riera. I had to read it 3 times and see subsequent replies to realise that he was actually serious.



So Riera is like Zidane and if he adds goals he is a worthy replacement for Barnes? Bloody hell, Riera has done OK but he is never in that class and never will be - in fact he isn't better any wide player our rivals have - he is just the best we have out wide by the looks of things.

So you take one poster's opinion and generalize it? If someone thinks Zidane is **** does that mean he really is?

We are a team of 11 players. Some of them are better than players in other teams in the same position, some are not. Football is a team game where having the best 11 players in each position on the pitch doesn't necessarily mean success. It's not a scientific field.

Of course there is a chance of disappointment. But that all adds to the emotion and experience when we do actually win something! Every season I want my hopes to be sky high, every season I think oh yeah, this is our year, most seasons it isnt but in this case, in the case of being a football supporter, it really is the journey not the destination that counts.

Rashid should understand that and i know its been said so many times before but if you cant enjoy being a footie fan then why spend so much time dashing (and pissing other reds off) others hopes and dreams.

On the other hand, when in the knowledge that recent history suggests we will **** it up, surely you should enjoy us being joint top whilst you still can, therefore getting at least some pleasure from our league performances.

I think I am over the top in my negativity towards Houllier and Rafa but that's only because both prefer the long ball, over tactical boring brands of football.

He probably watched one game last season, when Crouch was on, and saw us hitting long balls to him as a plan C option...it's pretty obvious he doesn't get to see a lot of us. Up and down the land we are known as the most knowledgable fanbase in the world, its our USP. I agree about being positive, I am a Rafa defender to my non LFC fans who all think he is useless and want him to stay for years. I even defend Kuyt... but on forums I am different.

This is a good debate to have and whether people on forums go too far trying to prove how much of a superfan they are in print. I know lads from Liverpool and away from the game and believe me the level of over the top hyperbole on Rafa and some of the players doesn't exist away from forums.

Nonsense. In "our" eyes we are the most Knowledegable (based on what, I'm not exactly sure!) but all club's fans surely feel that "they" are the most knowledgable. Don't they? I've never heard a Utd fan or a Newcastle fan saying, "god i wish we were as knoweldegable as those liverpool fans!"

I have no doubt most LFC fans don't agree with him, nor do I think it's fair to post this thread here without giving him a chance to respond.

What is more delusional than that statement is the fact that you think it is a common view held by most Liverpool supporters. (If you don't think this, then what is the actual point of this thread?)

As for Riera, I think he has been an excellent signing for us and long may it continue.
