I havent seen anyone comment about how after, after last years substitution for being
too passionate, this year he was controlled, measured and showed that he had perhaps learned a lesson.

Its the best performance ive seen from him in a long long time.
Gerrard is an awesome CM, and I've been saying that for ages. Whether he stays there is another matter. Mascherano and Alonso are bang in form to so the adaptability of Gerrard could be his un doing.

i think as soon as masch is fit kuyt will become a squad player.

his run for the torres first goal was brilliant as was when he played a suicide pass to arbeloa also typical of his touch at times.

i'm glad that he's finding some form in the league, but i still think he plays better further up the pitch and would prove to be a really good foil for torres in a 442.

I can see keane and kuyt rotated a lot this year BUT if both Keane and Kuyt play without torres i wonder where the goals will come from.

He must be on the verge of some record of a liverpool striker with xxxxminutes on the pitch without scoring in a league game.

i see keane and gerrard being fluid in their positions and interchanging a lot. If babel plays i see all three of them doing this.

i don't see how you can leave out Masch and keane, both cost us huge amounts of money.

Maybe when one of masch and alonso is being rested we'll see gerrard in central midfield but i think if lucas and plessis are to push on they'll play these games.

In hindsight, and this is regardless of how well keane does for us this season, i think we needed a right sided attacker more than we needed robbie keane. the balance of our team would have been better.

an own goal and babel as a second half sub. remind me who did babel come on for?

i really don't think a strikeforce of keane and kuyt will score enough goals. both have characteristics of a support striker.

We've played one league game with Keane and Kuyt up front and we won it. It also happened to be against the Champions of England and Europe. It doesn't matter who scored the fact is we won the game with them pair up front.

You are entitled to your own opinion but on the evidence so far this season your opinion is wrong. This thread was created to give Kuyt a bit of credit for his performance on Saturday not to say he is not got enough or get at his scoring record. The fact remains that on Saturday Torres might not have scored his goals if it wasn't for Kuyts unselfish play.

Can we not just praise the lad for once?

Didn't Diouf go a whole season without bagging one?

Dirk Kuyt or as my mate appropriately calls him Dirk ****e was woeful. Again, no attacking threat, link play with Arbeloa was awful. I thought Riera was more effective.

This despite Kuyt being involved in two goals due to him cutting inside. Riera did well, it was him that set Keane away down the left wing, and he also cossed for a goal that was correctly ruled out, which, come to think of it was scored by Dirk Kuyt.

I am at a loss to see how Dirk Kuyt is first choice RW in our squad. But I have to be fair and say that Kuyt played really well against Everton. If he could play like that every week he would be a justified starter.

He's been alot better this season than last.

You and your mate know **** all about association football if you think Kuyt was ****e on Saturday.

I think he was good at the end of last season too actually - as a right sided attacking player.

I don't like him in the deeper right midfield position in a 4-4-2 but I think against Everton he was well suited as they had a **** midfield and he could keep moves going without having to run the ball from deep (which he is terrible at). Most of his productive work was in the area and I still think against anyone of quality he has to be played in a forward position.

You can only beat what you are up against though and he did very well against Everton - all credit too him.

I'm far from being Dirk's biggest fan but how can you say that?! He had a very good game on Saturday. Yes he gave the ball away a few times but then he always does. His work for both goals was good and it was about as an industrious a performance as you could wish to see.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The player who played a large part in both goals and scored one for it to be disallowed was no attacking threat?
It really is great how 2 people can watch the same match but come up with 2totally opposite views on the players.
In my eyes he had a very good game, the work he does of the ball is also excellent.

He did nothing for the second goal. I thought Keane pulled out the pass and Torres finished it after a scramble between Jagielka and Kuyt.
