Hmmm so Kuyt wasn't in on goal taking 2 defenders with him leaving Torres free to snap up the scraps?

You might not like Kuyt as a player but how anyone can possibly say he didn't haven't a good game on Saturday is beyond me.

You clearly have an agenda against him which is a bit sad.

I just don't think he is good enough. We could someone with a bit guile, trickery but instead we are settled with a makeshift right winger who hasn't scored in the league since last November. I mean even Carragher has scored since.

A lot of things Dirk does in a game arent glamorous or particularly noticeable.

I am by no means a fan of his, he gives possession away far too much, has no first touch and no final ball to ever be considered a top level footballer for me, but he does give us better movement than he gets credit for, is a constant hassle for defenders and when he gets it right his link up play is good. Im not going to mention his work-rate as an attribute because that should be a given for any Liverpool player and not used as a saving grace.

All these things were evident for me on Saturday and it was one of them games where Dirk's strengths outshone his weaknesses.

I hope he has more games like that this season.

It's called boo-boy mentality. They will focus on a players bad points, and tend to ignore any good work he does. Why they do this, i don't know, but it's a common trait amongst fans of any club.

Weird thing is, my mate, a manc fan of going on 50 years, rates Kuyt....reckons he's one of the most intelligent readers of the game, and one of the best off-the-ball workers in the game. So we have a manc giving one of our players credit, yet our own fans, who can only see him as a striker and judge him purely on his goal scoring record, can't see what he brings to the team??

We know, you slag him off at every available opportunity. Fair enough you don't rate him, but when he has a good game - as he did on Saturday then you just look like someone with an agenda if you won't give him credit when it is due.

I work with Mancs, Chelsea, Spurs etc fans, and they all think Kuyt is a good player. Never heard any of them slagging off. I guess we see more of him than they do but still. The way some go on about him you would think he is an embarrassment to the club.

You will find many on Est agree with the point you are making here, myself included. But even if you don't rate a player you have to admit when he has a good game, which Kuyt did against Everton.

His presence on the pitch lead to two goals, how he did it doesn't matter. If he could be as involved every week at the right end he would have alot more fans. The fact he isn't is when people get annoyed. Even agaisnt Stoke he looked one of the most likely to score, having better attempts than Torres. Against Man Utd he was also first class.

RW is the area I most want to improve, but I can't argue when he plays as well as he has.

                      What Reece said.

You may not rate him which is fine but to say he was ****e on Saturday is just wrong when he clearly had a good game.

I simply think he doesn't offer anything from the right wing. Its one of two areas I would improve on along with right back.

While I think you are completely wrong in the rest of your assessment of him I do agree that Kuyt and Arbeloa don't link up at all and possibly even emphasise one anothers weak points.

You are entitled to your own opinion but on the evidence so far this season your opinion is wrong. This thread was created to give Kuyt a bit of credit for his performance on Saturday not to say he is not got enough or get at his scoring record. The fact remains that on Saturday Torres might not have scored his goals if it wasn't for Kuyts unselfish play.

Can we not just praise the lad for once?
i did praise the lad but even people like dww have made exactly the same observations as i have of kuyt's performance on saturday. talk him up all you like he still has very clear weaknesses that will never get addressed.

and if rafa thought that kuyt could really do a job upfront i really don't think we'd have spent 20 million on a striker in the summer that is supposed to do everything that kuyt as a supporting striker should be doing for us.

He has played very well. He is one of Rafa's favourites, and will play most games this season. As long as we have the balance on the left and Babel as an option it's all good.

Rafa has done what most of us have wanted. He is playing a settled side and players in the right positions, with everyone contributing.

Rafa also sold his 2nd striker in the close season and binned off his 4th choice it was obvious he was going to purchase someone else not because he didn't think kuyt could do a job there but because we were pretty short in that department. If he thought Kuyt wasn't good enough do you really think he would have played him upfront with Keane against the champions of England and Europe?

As for Kuyt's weaknesses I started this thread to discuss Kuyts performance on Saturday NOT to bleat on about the same old stuff the Kuyt bashers bleat on about. The lad played well on Saturday but posters like you give him praise for 2 seconds before you start slagging him off again.

                                It's a joke.
