I'm not having a go at Rafa. But rotation of main players costs you a title chance
So you're saying that a draw away to Pompey (Which IMO is a decent result) and a draw at home to Brum cost us the title? Torres might not have looked injured when he came on but the fact remains he went off injured mid week with a hip injury. As for the Brum game we should be beating them easily with the team we put out.

As for Gerrard then yes it maybe was a mistake to rest him away to Pompey but we are talking about one game. When Fergie rested Ronaldo and they lost to Bolton he got no stick for it.

Managers make mistakes and I'm not denying Rafa's rotation can be as annoying as hell but the myth about him resting Gerrard and Torres is just that a myth.

I agree you are quite right. Others have also been right in saying Rafa has made to many changes in the past. 1-3 changes every week is fine. Anything more and it is counter productive.

In the league that is anyhow. Any other competition and I'll not complain.

        I agree.

What Sarb said was totally correct keep your spine and rotate round that. Sometimes Rafa makes 6 or 7 changes and it's clear it doesn't work.

The article indicates that Rafa has finally clicked that rotating players in form is not always wise. And yes, it's what some people have been saying all along...so there's no need to give credit
Torres was carrying an injury, often forgotten by your type when spouting about this ****

Yeah agree. Keep the defence similar for the obvious reasons. Keep Gerrard and Torres on as they are the players that provide that extra quality. The other players are of varying ability so can be rotated.

When we have the game in the bag then we can take off the players we see as key to winning the title. Winning 6-0 against Derby last year was great, but that is the kind of game where you can take your star players off and let the subs come on and have a go. If the game is as good as over at half time make some changes then.

How am i giving him zero credit? If he maintains a sense of consistency in his lineups, he's doing well and i'm pleased. By highlighting how much less he is rotating, i AM giving him credit.

Quite simple when you think about it.

What alot of people refer to is if he's fit enough to be on the bench he's fit enough to play. I myself disagree with that. Sometimes players are only good for half an hour, and it is better to bring them on against tired opposition with 25 minutes to go than to start them.

Thing is though danny, if a striker gets injured in the first 5 or 10 mins, what do you then do? You have to bring him off the bench, so it's reasonable to suggest that, especially in the era of 5 subs, you'd rarely have a player on the bench if he could only manage half an hour, very few would risk it.

i wonder what they would have said had we lost to Manure with Gerrard and Torres on the bench

how often does that happen though? Not very often at all.

Well Torres had torn a hamstring 2 weeks earlier and Gerrard had just recovered from groin surgery, so that's a little bit different.

Not very often at all, no. Rafa's not one for taking risks though, is he?

The same argument is valid when talking about spending all of your budget on one or two top players, and then people say 'but what if you do that and they get injured?'
