    Dry your eyes Kirkland

"We played really well. Not many teams will go to Anfield this season and score two goals, and I don't think many sides will push them as much as we did.
"I think Liverpool will have felt relieved with this result – they got away with this one.

"We didn't deserve to lose, and that's the second time in a fortnight we've said that after Middlesbrough beat us.
"The turning point of the game was the red card for Antonio, and basically he shouldn't have got the first booking.

"He did nothing wrong. Their lad took the free-kick and Antonio charged it down, simple as that.
"But because of the commotion the Liverpool players made with their arms going up, the referee bottled the decision and ordered it be taken again.

"Referees have a tough job, but it was as clear as daylight he should not have booked Antonio.
"It's difficult enough playing with 11 men at Anfield, but being down to 10 men was extremely difficult.

"Hopefully the referee will admit he made a mistake, that is what we want to hear, and if he does, fair enough.
"But we feel hard done by. I don't think we will have a better chance than this of beating one of the big four clubs.

Valencia's 2nd offence could easlily have been a straight red anyway so you're talking ****. Bitter man. Understand that he's pissed off with the result but ffs you can't blame the ref for that. Oh and maybe if he had made a better fist of Kuyt's shot for the winner, his side would of went away with a point?

Kirkland has turned into a very good keeper, particularly now he has had a run without injuries. Some of his shot stopping is just fantastic. Incredible save against Kuyts drive. Maybe should have done a little better to keep the winner out but I thought he had a brilliant game and Im pleased to see him doing well.

As far as Valencia's sending off goes I think it was in part down to Robbie Keane. Before the free-kick was taken he was constantly pressurising the referee about them not being back 10 yards. Really laying into him. I've no doubt this led to the first booking as lets be honest, players get away with what he did every game. Im not blaming Keane, Im actually applauding him, its great to have someone fighting our corner, badgering referees. We have been too nice with this over the last few years. Keane has that cheeky Irish charm thing going on and just seems to get away with it.

Last thing on Valencia, that 2nd challenge could easily have been a red card on its own, so I dont think he can have too many complaints.

Oh and Alonso has taken so many horrible challenges this season its a miracle he's not confined to a wheelchair!

He is absolutely right with everything he has said.

There's something about Kirkland that reminds me of a chick.

            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I couldn't understand Bruce's attack on Wiley, Valencia had to go...period. We never really got out of 2nd gear, Wigan had 5 days to prepare whilst our lads were on International duty. All in all without Masch and El Nino we got there.

Ha, well, I can't see that myself, to be honest.

Then again I think James McFadden looks like a tellytubby and no-one else agrees with me on that.

Disagree completely. He was and is a very good goalkeeper and is most definately one of, if not the best English goalkeeper. Injuries did him in big time and he is still injury prone.

MOTD 2 showed that Valencia was 8.7 yards away from the ball when the free kick was taken. So Steve Bruce can go tickle Chris Kirklands balls as a consolation - the referee does not owe an apology to anyone except us for not giving him a straight red.

Except the quote that "He did nothing wrong", he wasn't 10yrds for starters, it took nigh on 2-3 mins to get the kick taken, and then when he charged he petulantly kicked the ball away, i think that's when the ref decided to book him.

I agree players get away with similar things every week, but that's the nature of the game, it doesn't just apply to free kicks, we see different decisions each game from refs for seemingly identical indiscretions.

However to make the tackle on Xabi that he did while on a yellow was plain stupidity.
