Kirkland could have been great but is unfortunately made of breadsticks. Miles better than the club-handed Carson.

Could itsimplay have been growing pains related...like Gerrards injuries were, where he went from Owen sized to Gerrard sized and it took his body time to catch up??

I think he only missed 1 league game for Wigan last year, also he was playing with a back problem towards the end of his spell with us.
1 of the best 3 English keepers imo, miles better than Green, Robinson or Carson.

Could well have been as he is a big lad.

I think no English keeper really inspires at the minute. However Carson and Kirkland have talent and are young. My suspicion is that neither are really top class but that Kirkland will be the better of the two. I think their time under Rafa showed both to not be totally receptive to innovative keeping techniques which I think are needed to really push keepers to the top level.

Carson in particular doesn't seem to have the right mentality for a top keeper, he has shown himself to be a talented shot stopper though IMO.
