I sort of agree with you PTP but I think the second problem is that Babel also doesn't join the forward enough. If we play Gerrard off of Kuyt the two wide players have to try and get close to Kuyt when Gerrard is deep. Let Stevie go left for a short period of time to cover if needs be but really the wide player has to either occupy his full back (i.e. use the width) or be supporting the striker when we play that formation IMO.

Chelsea and Man Utd have made a living out of doing "just enough" to win when not playing particularly well - it is a sign of a bloody good side and shows maybe, just maybe, we are getting to a level of play which makes us genuine title contenders this season.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWe scored one goal via a late-ish penatly = we did just enough.

we battered pompey, did more than enough to win."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

It would be a bit hypocritical if he changed.Originally posted by fredo View PostGot to appreciate Craig_H's obsession about rotation. He's still at it.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

No we didn't. We didn't score from open play and they had as many clear cut opportunities as we did if the highlights are anything to go by. Simply having all the possession is not battering someone.Originally posted by Marky View Post

we had most of the ball, they never really threatened, but we didn't batter them - far from it - yes we won, and i'm glad we did, we did what we had too but I didn't walk out of anfield last night saying, greta performance we battered them should have been 3 or 4 nil.
I have walked out of anfield at times when we have say lost 1-0, even though we battered the opposition but just could score, I have walked out of anfield aand it's been 1-0 win to us and we literally leathered the *******s and could have won 10 nil
last night was not one of those nightsi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Not for me, I'd say it was more like 167/200th of a battering.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostBut is it 9/10ths of battering someone?
Posession should be the basis/platform for doing so but I think the measure of battering someone has to come from chances and shots rather than possession."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
