I'd rather stay at anfield but expand it to 60/70k if poss. I feel that enough pressure has not been put on the local councils etc to let us go down this route. I know there are potential obstacles to doing it this way, however if we just had someone at the helm who would not take no for an answer we'd find a way. It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

Lots of good points raised. I see where the author is coming from but can't say I agree. A new stadium doesn't have to mean fair weather fans and poor atmosphere. The big difference here is that the new stadium is being built next to the old one and not out in the middle of cheshire (nothing wrong with cheshire mind!).
A little bit of foreward planning and thought in the design would help to ensure an intimidating atmosphere. Building a steep, cauldron-like stadium rather than a flat bowl-type would keep fans closer to pitch, pay attention to prevailing winds and acoustics would go a long way to ensure a hostile atmosphere. I don't claim to be a structural engineer but it doesn't seem far fetched to me to think that a designer worth his salt would be able to account for these kind of things if asked.
If all H&G want is 60000 seats then chances are we'll get a McStadium but if they want a home to proud of and one the fans will love going to then it's worth the extra effort.

The author is clearly passionate but that kind of thinking will end up with us just being another championship team in 10 years time. We need to move forward and do it fast, we can't keep playing catch up. Man Utd are getting 75,000 fans in every week and we only have 45,000 seats. The demand for tickets is huge and a bigger stadium on the 70,000 mark would solve alot of our problems
Infact its an absolute must
