by the way nicey if you don't like my assesment of dossena and keane as turd go and put my on ignore or something instead of abusing me. close to 30 million and they have contributed nothing to date.
Bit harsh on Keane to be fair he has proved himself over the years to be a great player. "form is temporary class is permanent" rings true on this occasion. He needs time to fit. I think the 20 million pricetag is weighing him down. He is trying too hard to play our style of football. Add the fact that he is a red to this and the pressure he feels must be immense. The last thing he needs at this moment in time is the fans to start getting on his back. Judge him at the end of the season. The jury is out on Dossena but again I would not judge him till the end of the season. New league, new country etc it takes some foreign players a while to settle. I enjoy reading a lot of your posts Rage, you are like a good ol fashioned nemesis, everyone on here loves to have a pop at you but when your not spouting ****e you can make some very good arguments. On this occasion I think you are in the wrong calling our players turd. I think you have been waiting for this moment when we lose a game so as you can come on here and have a pop at the players and manager.
      Dare we believe

Dossena is a good player still adapting to this league. We should put you on a gagging order seriously.

You could just say - "really, I don't think Dossena is very good at all, in fact I think his performances so far have been dire." Would not that be the same thing to you, and a slightly different thing to the people who might take issue with the original? I've been defending the rights of certain people on this site to express opinions that go against the grain and not be subject to abuse, but those people also need to take some responsibility in return for the manner with which the express themselves; its not what you say, its the way you say it, especially when you know what the result may be.

Essentially, Nicey shouldn't be calling you a cunt, but then you shouldn't be calling Dossena one.

We need a bit of give and take on this site guys.... please!
Whats the big deal? If I say someone isn't very good and he says he's ****e, is there really that much difference. It comes down to the same thing after all. People are too touchy about such things...IMO.

I see parallels in this and the ongoing argument about families at games and fans being escorted from the seats for swearing and shouting

Calling one of our players a cunt or whoever is showing disrespect in the first place. Then there's the added criteria of frustration with yesterdays defeat (or whatever defeat) and it does not offer rationality and perspective on things.

I think we should close the football forums for 4 or 5 days after each defeat. It's a sea of mediocrity each time and I don't envy the mods at all during those times.

I thought there were some really intelligent and sensible posters in here but they normally show their ugly face when they are frustrated.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with that personally, but to some there is a difference, subtle maybe, but a difference - I'm just saying that we need to find some balance in the force.

What I'm after is certain people being able to express their opinions without threads turning into epic failures every time they do. That requires certain people to be less touchy about some things, and others to make an effort not to be deliberately antagonistic. I don't think that's such a bad aim.

I think Keane's contribution for Kuyt's goal was exactly what he was bought for. Guile in the area or final third. Something we've lacked for a long time IMHO. I'll give him a season before labelling him turd. A lot of money and I think that's the issue with his detractors.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

I don't think there's a point in discussing football after a defeat mate, or even during a football match. Unless we segregate people and put the frustrated in one place and the others in another.

It's the same thing as me choosing which pub to go after or during a match. I certainly wouldn't be going in one where insults and rash comments would be made. I'd avoid it like the plague.

Everything was rosey before yesterdays defeat then suddenly it's all doom and gloom. Is that rationality?

I can give it to Rage and Sarb on that one as at least they were consistent before it, but one of them still uses a language not conducive to a proper discussion.

Personally, I don't agree with calling a player a c*nt, but that's me, each to their own, but football and football fans are being sanitised on mass, hence the library atmosphere at many premiership games. Football fans lose their rag, they shout and swear, its an outlet to vent. It comes to something that you can be ejected for saying f*ck to often within the stadium but its a whole new level when you can be given a clip around the ear on an internet football forum.

Can't stop thinking about those near-misses. Xabi's header!

And you just KNEW that clown Gomes would have a stormer. His fingertip save from Stevie effectively won them the game. A galling defeat.

I'd not be terribly upset of the swap happenned, but I like keane and want him given more time. He's going to form an amazing relationship up front with Torres in time
3 years is not a significant period of time in a football career?

Maybe you're right about Keane forming an amazing relationship with Torres, maybe it will just take an insignificant period of time. Like three years, perhaps?

We spunked that game away last night and allowed a **** team to dictate the play in the last 20 minutes. ****ing bollocks that.

I hope rafa and sammy had a right go at them at full time last night. I know we are going to lose games but there is a difference between losing and throwing the game away FFS.
Nonsense, we didnt throw it away, we were just very unfortunate.

It is still puzzling me why Rafa decided to take Keane off and Bring Babel on up front..

Keane was doing a good job of holiding the ball up and bring gerrard into play. When Babel came on for 25 mins he didn't do that once, which allowed Spurs to put us under pressure.

If your going to take Keane off, you should have shifted Kuyt upfront and put babel on the right.

thats my slight rant over.. until I think about how poor Yossi was when he came on...
