Is Mascherano developing into an even better player?

Mascherano is one of my favourite players, his tough tackling no nonsense style make him one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and the way he prowls the midfield in front of the back four breaking down other teams attacks allows more offensive midfielders to push forward.

However, in the past few games I've noticed an increasing number of examples of him making forward runs or starting off an attacking with a decent/intelligent pass.

Has anyone else noticed this? There were a few examples in the west brom game in the opening 60 minutes.

He seems to be nearing perfection, he's like a tenacious little Warthog. Don't forget who set up the winner against manure.

Made some great interceptions tonight when we had nothing going for us, lifted the lads and inspired them to go for it.

Yup he is a lot better player than when he joined, I know some peopel think he isnt needed in home matches but he really adds the momentum when we need it.

I think his passing is erratic. His all round play and general game obviously are outstanding but then again, his passing doesn't bring me confidence.

Well he's passed it better than SG these past few games. Today especially.

didi was at least as good and he scored goals. masch is a good player but is nowhere near the complete central midfielder. in his national team with creativity all around him his strengths add balance, in a liverpool team his shortcomings are exposed more.

                          Epic post fail

I just can't see what more mascher can do to convince people. Perhaps step overs and fancy tricks? IMHO he is the best midfielder of his type in the world and even without the same level of goal threat as didi (a legend in my book) he manages to do the same kind of protective role but with greater urgency and mobility.

I think the term work class is over used but it's definately applicable to mascher, as he could easily walk into any other team in the world.
It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

The key point, that is often overlooked IMO.

Not really. Didi's stats were 11 goals in 283 games for us. Hardly prolific. It would be nice if Masch could score a few goals too but I hardly think it's essential considering everything else he brings to the team.
