It's pretty much written in black and white - the owners didn't have a problem with money. It was the fact Barry was 28, he was a midfielder and had no sell on value. The owners didn't believe it was feasible signing a midfield player of that age for that fee. The owners rightly felt we had enough midfielders and it just wasn't feasible spending that money. What I've just said is documented everywhere on the net. We could have signed Ngog for £10M or for free, the money would have been available if the signing was justified. This in my opinion, is the only decision G&H have got right since they've been in charge and I agreed fully with what they said.My kebab comes with chilli sauce

Yeah, that sounds familiar now that I think back. Although I doubt they would have spent £10m on Ngog but I know what you mean!!! What do you think of him? I thought he looked ok when he came on the against Madrid, I hope he starts tomorrow night.Originally posted by saj View PostIt's pretty much written in black and white - the owners didn't have a problem with money. Here is a quote from Ablett:-Originally posted by saj View PostAnother terrible post - I watch everygame game that is televised on LFC.TV!
You say I don't know anything about coaching? Do you know anything about Sport Psychology? Did you know confidence/mental preparation is as vital as physcial preparation for a game? If he plays at a lower level, performs well and bangs in a few goals then his confidence will build. He can then slowly be eased into a the next level up i.e. the reserves. But playing a young boy, away from his home into a new culture of football and at a level which he clearly isn't suitable is potentially the worst thing for his development. His confidence will only get lower each time he gives the ball away, evertime he takes a tough challenge, eveytime he's subbed, everytime the team loses etc etc. And if you know anything about the reserves, you'll know that he has struggled to adapt to both the country and the style of football from interviews with Ablett.
And if you don't believe in Sport Psychology, then think back to how every year in the 3rd round of the FA Cup a crap team from the lower divisions can knock out a team flying high in the premiership. Is it a case of being thrown at the deep end and raising their game as they struggle? Or is it a case of sport psychology coupled with physical preparation that gives them a slightly greater chance and even out playing their opponents?
You clearly don't know the first thing about coaching if you think chucking young, underdeveloped players into a level that is too great for them
"Gerardo has got fantastic quality," Ablett said. "Now we just have to work on his overall game and we might have a very good player on our hands."
That is why he is being played in the reserves when some people might say he is to "light weight". Its to help him develop.
Lets imagine we take your route, we spend the next 2 or 3 years slowly introducing Bruna via the under 18s then the reserves. Then what? He'll probably be at the stage that Nemeth is at now i.e. he has scored lots of goals for the reserves and needs to take the next step. Then what? He gets played in the first team and gets the **** kicked out of him, like he is going through now BUT because he has been slowly developed over a long period he doesn't know how to react, maybe he'll do well, maybe he won't BUT if he's already gone through that before (like he is doing now) he will be better prepared when he has to step up to the first team.
I honestly think in 5 years time Bruna will still be here and Nemeth will have been sold.

Ngog is a player with great technical ability, so much so he was deployed as a right winger by PSG for whatever reason. In terms of skill, he's probably far ahead of any of our reserve/fringe. I'll probably get smacked for this but he's probably more skillfull than Torres. He's clearly looked nervous in the appeareances he has made for the 1st team. Did you notice how his first few touches were poor against Athleti, but yet he got better as the game went on and he did that amazing drag back. He's got a brilliant shot from distance too and can hit the ball with either foot well. And supposedly, he's one of the quickest player at the club. He is a good player but he's in limbo, he's too developed/experienced for the reserves but not ready for the 1st team. We need to bring him on in games that we've already won by the 60th/70th minute and give him a good run out where he doesn't have the pressure of needing to score for the sake of the team. When he came on against Athleti we were desperate for a goal. Yet against Albion, he should have been brough on as were already winning 2-0 at half time. With Ngog, I think he just needs to bang in a couple of goals and make a few defenders look silly - this will help to build his confidence.Originally posted by ukfootballfan101 View PostYeah, that sounds familiar now that I think back. All I'm saying is, Bruna was promised that he would go straight into the reserve team if he signed for Liverpool. Read up on this - I think there may be actual quotes of his on Liverpool Echo or somewhere. I can understand why Nathan Eccleston is pissed off as he was promoted to the reserve team and then told to go back and train with the youth team even though he has proved that he is good enough for the reserves in the few appearences he has made for them. The same cannot be said of Bruna. People just read into the whole hype surrounding him as being the new 'Messi'. Messi at Bruna's age was quicker, more skillfull and stronger than him. In my opinion, Bruna won't make it. I doubt he would have made it through the stringent youth/reserve levels at Real Madrid. Hence the reason why they didn't promote him and he left as in Spain, you can't sign contracts until the age of 17/18 or something. And yes Real would be pissed off with us as we stole one of their players regardless of how good or bad he is. An example of this is Brouwer. Someone at Ajax said they were surprised Liverpool were signing him as they thought he wouldn't make it at Ajax. Then a week later somone at Ajax complained in the press that Liverpool stole their player! Even though they initially said he wasn't good enough for them!Originally posted by ukfootballfan101 View PostHere is a quote from Ablett:-

Sorry mate I just cant take your posts serious, for a football fan to go to all the home games and only know a couple of players sounds very dubious. You dont seem to know some of the bigger players for the reserves and very little facts about the club itself.Originally posted by ukfootballfan101 View PostThere is no point in Nemeth playing in the reserve team anymore, with the number of goals he scored last year he can't develop anymore, he's just using up a space in the team that Simon or Bruna could be using to help their development. If Nemeth wasn't injured which team would he be playing in? He refused to go out on loan, would you drop Keane for him? or maybe Torres?
Maybe you did go to the matches but with your list of players of who will make it and who wont, and the fact you dont know who most of them are makes it hard to take in any of your points.

Does doesnt it. Exactly. I've just realised this is the same guy who claimed Stevie G was a ****ing asshole off the pitch and Hyypia gave up the Captaincy for Gerrard (when he didn't - it was taken away from him). A bizarre poster on this forum without a doubt.Originally posted by Woobus View PostSorry mate I just cant take your posts serious, for a football fan to go to all the home games and only know a couple of players sounds very dubious. Thats fair enough but when will they be ready? The reserve league is not good enough for these players to develop.Originally posted by AFII View PostWhen they are ready and can cope with the PL. Not to sure I agree with that statement, players develop more in training than they do from a 90 minute match. The matches are were they put there training to good use and not to sure they improve a great deal in 90 minutes.Originally posted by stevie_gerrard_8 View PostThats fair enough but when will they be ready? Playing in the Premiership will get them up used to playing in big grounds and against tougher opponents, but I feel this is a short learning spell which could be taught at any age.

i don't want to take part in this food fight between you, but there is one thing that is missing from the argument. N'gog is a completely different striker to Nemeth and they would hardly be competing for the same spot. Rafa likes possibilities and Ngog is strong and big that makes him an aerial threat something nemeth isn't. He wanted someone to replace crouch, someone who could spend 90% of the games on the bench but could be thrown in the the game and try and give the players on the field a few more options.Originally posted by ukfootballfan101 View PostThat is a very good point, maybe he wouldn't have paid full price, however we all know that money has been very tight for Rafa this summer. Although I'm not sure if the fee was paid up front, but if it was that extra bit of cash may have enable Rafa to get Barry - as this was around the same amount as the difference in Villa's valuation and our bid.
Now I think there is alot we don't know about what happened with the Barry deal so this may be wide of the mark, but Rafa could have told the board to increase their bid by £1.5m and he would drop his interest in Ngog - if he thought Nemeth could step up. Can anyone remember when Ngog signed during the summer?"I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

UK - Nemeth is an outstanding talent mate, really, I've watched quite a bit of reserve footy with him in the side and he's the best young striker I've seen at the club since Owen.
But don't listen to me.....
