I've always wondered about naming rights and team sponsorship.
It seems to me that if you are going to sponsor, say, the Mancs, then, oviously you are going to get good exposure with their fanbase, but equally you are going to get a lot of negative advertising along the lines of "I'm not buying that they sponsor those Manc *******s." Surely not many Spurs/West Ham etc fans are going to want to fly Emirates?
