And i think you misunderstood my point. What i said was that goals make up for other stuff that may be lacking - eg, poor touch, giving the ball away etc.
Riera's touch is good and he keeps the ball superbly. If his touch was ****e and he lost the ball, but had 8 goals so far this season, the negative stuff becomes secondary because he's making a crucial tangible contribution on the scoresheet.
In short, goals can make up for being poor in other areas, but a lack of goals doesnt undo being good in other areas.
