Dossena smply is not cut out for the PL. He may be a good player, but not in this league. I remain convinced he will not be here next season and his performances and general body language do not make me think otherwise.

Aurelio's problem is that he will always remain injury prone, therefore it is a position that needs to be reviewed by Rafa.

yup he is a good player, just been unlucky with injuries, whenever he has got a bit of a run some injury ****s him up,

To be fair shaggy, dossena looks emphatically out of his depth. He might well need games and settling in time, but he's a massive liability, so playing him is a risk and we're in a situation where we have practically no margin for error.

As for evra, bad start or not, he was never this woeful.

One or two Mancs I've spoken to might beg to differ.

However...you may all be right about Dossena but I just know now ain't the time to judge. I think the Spurs calamity is clouding the issue a bit - it was a bit of a car crash but he's not been that poor before, and it was much easier for him to be exposed in a weakened side like that.

He's had some steady games IMO. He buccaneers forward and has a real good cross on him. Once in tune with our defensive way of doing things I think he'll be fine.

I hope you're right and i hope it doesnt cost us points while we find out.

Incidentally, in terms of going forward, i quite rate him. He gets high up the park and delivers quality into the box. Unfortunately though, at the other end, he never looks to me like he can keep up with a winger, let alone stop him crossing it.

                He worries me greatly.

Well how long did it take shanks to win the Lg for Liverpool or Ferguson for that matter. As for United been able to carry Evra .. what a load of Cock Custard ! our defence has been the strongest part of our game for years, this current team is just as strong if not better then the current United crop. Evra had a shocking introduction to the English game. No doubt if he was a Red and played like that, there would be burning efergee's of him outside his house with Midget go home.

But no, the manager stuck with him and look at him now, arguably the best left back perhaps 2nd only to clichy in the country. Its this kind of lazy half arsed analysis ... ooww oowww say what you see .. that constantly blasted Carra in the early years .. but ? is he good enough for United .

As for Dosser, why I have not formed any opinion on the man just yet, well its not even Christmas yet in his first campaign, I have not seen enough of him, regardless of what you think Rafa's scouting dept. have performed admirably thus far, his recent international call ups suggest a different assessment than yours and I think he taking time to settle into the English game, for me though he is quality, for a so called fat ******* he cant half fly past defenders and his delivery into the box is outstanding ..

Finally can we for once get out heads around the idea that sometimes other players keep players out of the team, ie Aurellio who has been very good this campaign and in many more astute corners is regarded very highly if not for his injury problems ... Dosser has a job on his hands getting that spot off him, I also believe Rafa is not playing a set back four this season.

Totally disagree with you - his delivery into the box has not been outstanding. Far from it, I recall many crosses from him flying out for goal kicks or being overhit. In all fairness though he has hardly been able to show this side of his game because he is being terrorsied defensively.

When he has managed to get forward he has been unbelievably slow in getting back and trying to cover the gaping spaces he has left at the back, unlike Fabio who tends to make the more measure runs and therefore is less likely to be exposed on the counter.

It is a no brainer for me, Dossena is just not suited to the type of football in the PL week in week out. No big deal, he could be great in a slow league like Serie A where he has time on the ball and is not really pressed, but here he has really looked out of his depth.

Too early to judge him? Maybe but sometimes you just know, and my gut instinct just tells me he is not going to make it here.

I can not argue with your post, so far he has been very poor. But I would have sold more than one player in the past on their early performances. What annoys me about him is has the physical attributes and should not be bullied off the ball, but this seems to occur to most foreign players.

What will be key in the future is whether or not he can get his head around the fact that he will have to be far more aggresive in the premier league.

The posters knocking his positional and tactical sense should remember he plays for Italy, by far the best defensive country in the world through out the ages. Put it simply, if you have no tactical nonce you will get nowhere near the Azzuri. It is basically all down to the pace of our league.

Will he adjust? I don't know. Better players than him have failed.

I understand your point Loopy in that you say you get a sense of a player, but I, as I mentioned, have been wrong before and I'm sure so have you.

Are you calling looprevil or Dossena a tactical nonce?
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

That would seem to be his biggest problem right now. Also, maybe the tactics we employ are asking far more offensively from our full backs than the current Italy team?

I am not trying to be big headed and say I know for sure he will fail because that would be plain stupid of me. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than him proving himself to be the player that Rafa saw.

I don't think so, though maybe he has not come up against that many teams who are as direct as a team such as Bolton for instance.

One long ball from the back and it's easy to expose an out of position full back.

He'll learn. And if not he will be sold, simple really. We take a loss on him but that's the risk you take when you gamble on a player.

My only problem is that I can not think of any left back in world football who I would want at the club (of those available at a similar price). And clearly with Fabio being made of glass this is an issue we need to address. Insua is not ready yet.
