Liverpool vs Fulham post mortem

fulham are tactically very sound.

what will cost us this season is not finishing enough chances.

whether its goal difference or points, our finishing is worse than manc, chelski or arse.

every team has a few upsets and it seems that 1/3 of the way through the season, we're having as many as chelski and less than man u or arsenal. what we have to make sure of is that we beat chelski at home, arsenal at home and draw or win at the old toilet.

its not doom and gloom by any means, but it is frustrating. funny old game tho isnt it...

That's just it though, results like today put (more) pressure on us to do the business in the games against Chelsea, Man Utd & Arsenal.

Shouldn't take anything away from them, I feel Hodgson is doing well for them and has put together a decentish squad and has them organized and playing OK. Maybe we underestimated them a bit, all of us.

It was good the other 2 (arsenal are out of it now) also dropped points.

The main lesson of today was that if Gerrard ain't playing Alonso has to. Lets see if it's learnt.

If you look over their squad, they have some decent players, Johnson, Murphy, Bullard, Hangeland are a decent spine, I think they will survive the drop. They are organized and know their limits, opposed to say West Ham.

my biggest fear is that what happened with fulham and stoke will be repeated throughout the season as teams will always come to anfield with no ambition hoping to get a point.

in several of our home wins already we have been fortunate against the likes of portsmouth and gerrards last minute screamer.

its past time we were able to break teams down easier than we currently do. yesterday wasn't just about a draw but more to do with our ongoing failing to actually create clear cut chances.

i'm increasingly thinking keane will fail in a liverpool team. not because he isn't talented enough but rather he's used to playing in a team that creates more. the more i see him the more he reminds me of andy cole at utd. great goalscoring record but needed 3 chances to score 1 goal. thats ok in a tem that will create the chances but this liverpool team doesn't.

fair enough. how about i rephrase it. this team doesn't create enough chances for robbie keane to shine.

in a utd or chelsea we'd see a keane that regularly scores because they create more chances than we do.

this has always been the way of liverpool in recent times, i'm not blaming anyone for it, which is why players like fowler, owen and now torres shine in a liverpool team.

It's the same old argument about creativity. Away from home, we often create plenty. At home to sides who park the bus, we sometimes lack the spark and create less.

I didn't see the game but for me the highlighted bit is exactly why the decision to leave Alonso on the bench was ridiculous.Especially against a team Rafa must have known would try keep it tight and nick a point.

If Stevie dosen't play then Alonso must,he's the only other creative source we have.

Nah, they had 14 shots on target. Their draw today was similar to ours against Stoke. It was one of those days where you have chances and due to bad luck (poor decisions, sometimes), it just doesnt happen.

Today's draw for us was just poor, we didnt really carve out chances. Keane's one-on-one should've been a goal but otherwise, it was more hopeful than expectant. Passing was very poor and there wasnt enough movement either.

Strange you think we didn't create enough chances. We created more than we did against Middlesboro and Man City. Torres had two great chances to score, one right foot curl and one where he ran in from the corner flag. Keane obviously had a sitter and Kuyt should have directed his shot a bit lower. We could have won this game 3-0 on another day.

So I ask again, did Scolari get it wrong as well?
